6 ways to whiten your teeth and brighten your smile

Whitening your teeth is not just about improving your appearance; it can be enjoyable and build your self-confidence, too. You may find sensible answers to your teeth whitening questions and handy advice to start your own whitening regimen in the article below.

1.    Rinse out your mouth with one percent hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide strips are expensive to buy and harsh on your teeth. Keep the peroxide in your mouth for at least a minute and make sure you do not swallow an excessive amount of the solution. Follow up by brushing your teeth.
Avoid using mouthwashes that contain alcohol or have coloring added to them. These colorings are known to have a staining effect on your teeth. The chemicals that they use are also not good for you. One well known mouthwash has been known to stain your teeth a brownish color.

2.    Whitening your teeth with baking soda
To whiten teeth, try brushing with baking soda. Baking soda is not only natural, but is really good to use for teeth whitening. Make sure to brush gently when using baking soda, as it can irritate your gums. Brushing with baking soda too frequently can damage you tooth enamel, so use this mixture once a week and watch for wonderful results!
Baking soda has been used by many people for many years as an easy inexpensive way to whiten teeth. It is important to mix the baking soda with salt to increase abrasion. Using this 2-3 times a week will quickly show results. Always brush normally after treating

3.    Natural tooth whiteners
Strawberries can be used as a natural tooth whitener. The malic acid in strawberries can make your teeth whiter without using harsh bleaching agents. You can mash them finely into paste and use that on your toothbrush or you can just cut a strawberry and use it to rub your teeth while relaxing.
Use other natural tooth whiteners, such as baking soda, orange peels, or lemon peels. Mixing any of these with a little salt can make an excellent cheap tooth whitening product. Be sure to wash your mouth out thoroughly after using any of these methods, as the harsh acids can damage your teeth.

4.    Having a dentist check up
Before beginning any kind of a teeth whitening program, be sure to visit your dentist and have a thorough cleaning and check up. This could actually be all that you need for a nice, white smile. It will also allow your dentist to check your gums because these whitening treatments should not be used when the gums are inflamed.
There is no real evidence that teeth whitening products will harm a baby during pregnancy or nursing. You should play it safe and avoid taking any chances. There is no reason to risk your baby's health just to have a whiter smile. Go to your dentist and have a good cleaning done

5.    Treatments and toothpastes
You will be disappointed with the teeth whitening results if your teeth are gray. Whitening works best with yellow or brown discoloration. Badly discolored teeth will likely require several treatments before improvement is seen. When trying to whiten your teeth, use toothpaste specifically made for teeth whitening.
These toothpastes use peroxides that act as a bleaching agent for your teeth. Be sure to look at the amount of peroxide in the toothpaste, typically the concentration is between ten and twenty percent. Choose a product in the middle, and if your teeth tolerate the toothpaste (and you want more effective whitening), move up to a toothpaste with 20% peroxide.

6.    Teeth whitening strips
A great way to whiten your teeth is to use tooth whitening strips. Usually you will use these once or twice a day on both the top and the bottom. Leave it on for the appointed time then take it off. In a few weeks they should be a few shades whiter.
To prevent teeth whiteners from bleaching your gums along with your teeth, rub a small bit of petroleum jelly on your gums before using whitening products. The petroleum jelly provides a protective coating that will help stop the active ingredients in topical whiteners from also bleaching your gums along with your teeth.
If you were able to get pearly white teeth that made you want to smile, imagine how much your self-confidence would grow. Heed the advice you've gotten here and put yourself on the road to a brilliant smile.
