Thierry Henry has been criticised for missing Arsene Wenger’s final home game at Arsenal on Sunday. Wenger signed off with a 5-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, while after the match the 68-year-old delivered a speech to fans.
Several Arsenal legends attended the game including Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg and Martin Keown. But Henry, who was signed by Wenger and remains Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer, missed the game as he was covering Manchester City’s title victory at the Etihad Stadium for Sky Sports. And Henry has been criticised by former Sky Sports commentator Andy Gray, who claimed the Frenchman’s absence was a show of disrespect towards Wenger.
‘I’m staggered he’s not there,’ Gray told beIN Sports. ‘I was under the impression every Arsenal player who played 100 games for Arsene Wenger would be at Arsenal to pay their respects and say cheerio to the great man. ‘For Thierry Henry not to be there, just to be at a celebration, a nothing game, it meant nothing to City.
