Australia plans to ban pedophiles from traveling overseas
Australia plans to ban convicted pedophiles from traveling overseas in what the government said Tuesday is a world-first move to protect vulnerable children in Southeast Asia from exploitation. Australian pedophiles are notorious for taking inexpensive vacations to nearby Southeast Asian and Pacific island countries to abuse children there. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she would cancel the passports of around 20,000 pedophiles on the national child sex offender register under legislation that will be introduced to Parliament soon.
"There has been increasing community concern about sexual exploitation of vulnerable children and community concern is justified," she told reporters.
Almost 800 registered child sex offenders travelled overseas from Australia last year and about half went to Southeast Asian destinations, she said.

Her husband, Niran Saewang, survived the attack, Narin said. He was transferred from Phayao to Lampang hospital, which is a three-hour drive, and had his penis reattached, a hospital staff confirmed. Hospital staff in Phayao managed to retrieve Niran's penis and froze it with ice during the hospital transfer, according to Lampang hospital. Mr Hopkins said: “When the idea of the concert came up, the first reaction was we need to speak to the families of the victims and see what they feel. It is fair to say that the majority of them are very much in favour, there are some that clearly aren’t and that is absolutely understandable.

Mother charged with manslaughter after accidentally smothering her 2 months old son as they slept together
A 23 year old mother, Arissa Ward has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after she allegedly smothered her child while they slept next to each other. Ward, called police in Middleton, Pennsylvania, on 30 December last year after she found her infant son unresponsive on the couch next to her where they had been sleeping. An autopsy carried out a week later found the child had died due to “traumatic asphyxia combined with smothering”.
The coroner also found traces of marijuana in the child’s system as Ms Ward had been breastfeeding. Ms Ward has now been charged with second-degree felony count of involuntary manslaughter and a first degree misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children. Ed Marisco, Dauphin County district attorney, defended prosecuting Ward and said the baby’s death had been “caused by a reckless act”. He said it was clear she had not meant to kill her child but "the advice from hospitals and paediatricians is pretty clear - don't sleep with your child" and that if someone is under the influence of drink or drugs "it's much more likely something like this could happen".

Burundi orders all unmarried couples to wed, gives December deadline
In an effort to reform morals, Burundi government has ordered all unmarried couples until the end of the year to legalise their relationships. The government gave the order on Friday follows the launch of a campaign this month by President Pierre Nkurunziza “to moralise society” in the tiny nation which for two years has been in the grip of sometimes violent political upheaval. Interior ministry spokesman Terence Ntahiraja said the country was facing a population explosion which he blamed on “illegal marriages”, polygamy, bigamy and “hundreds of schoolgirls getting pregnant”. He said church and state-sanctioned weddings were the solution and were a patriotic duty. Nkurunziza said Burundians should show their love for each other — and their country — by getting married.
The government has since been pressuring unwed couples across the country to tie the knot. The governor of the southeastern province of Rutana has ordered that “persons living in common-law unions” should be put on a special list by June 22, while the governor of the northwestern Bubanza province has demanded unspecified “sanctions” against aisle-dodgers.

The tell-tale signs of a stroke: A crease in your ear lobes
Having diagonal creases across your ear lobes may mean you are at increased risk of suffering a stroke, according to new research. Scientists who examined 241 people who had experienced a stroke found more than three-quarters of them had the mark, known as Frank’s sign, on their ears. It’s thought that clogging of the arteries, which increases the risk of a stroke, also leads to poor blood supply to the ear lobes. This would cause a loss of elasticity and, in turn, the visible creasing. The Israeli researchers who uncovered the findings said doctors should consider adding the ear lobe crease to the list of ‘classic risk factors for the development of stroke’. But other observers think the feature could be little more than a sign of advancing years.
