Brazilian authorities investigating rape allegations against footballer Neymar have closed the case over lack of evidence. The Sao Paulo attorney general’s office said the police decision will be sent to prosecutors on Tuesday, which will have 15 days to evaluate the case. A final decision on the case will be made by a judge.

Two years ago Edwin Gabriel Robles Martinez and Shardyone Girigorio Semerel allegedly opened fire on a cafe in the tourist hub of Marrakech. They had apparently been aiming at the cafe’s owner, but instead killed the student and wounded two other people, local media reported.

The leader of a South Korean doomsday cult has been sentenced to six years in jail for holding her followers captive in Fiji and subjecting them to violence. Shin Ok-ju, who founded the Grace Road Church, convinced 400 people to move to Fiji in 2014, claiming they would be safe from imminent natural disaster

The WBC has provisionally suspended Dillian Whyte's status as the organisation's interim world heavyweight champion and mandatory challenger to Deontay Wilder.
Whyte tested positive for a banned substance three days before he beat Oscar Rivas on 20 July.
The Briton, 31, will be allowed to present his case to the WBC.
Whyte has been number-one ranked with the WBC - behind American champion Wilder - for more than 600 days.
VG Siddhartha: Cafe Coffee Day tycoon's body found
The body of the founder and owner of India's largest coffee chain, Cafe Coffee Day, has been found near a river on the outskirts of the southern city of Mangalore, police say. VG Siddhartha went missing on Monday after apparently walking away from his car and driver.
On Tuesday, police said a body had been found by fishermen on the river. The identity was confirmed by members of Mr Siddhartha's family after the body was taken to hospital.
Army aircraft crashes into building in Pakistan killing 18 people on the spot
At least 18 people were killed and several injured when a small military plane crashed into a residential area near the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi. Five crew members and 13 civilians were among the dead, rescue services said. The aircraft was on a training flight when it crashed and set off a fire across several homes. One witness said the plane was ablaze before the crash.

At least 52 dead in Brazil prison riot
At least 52 prisoners were killed by other inmates during clashes between organised crime groups at the Altamira prison in northern Brazil on Monday, according to prison officials. Para state prison authorities said 16 of the victims were decapitated while others were asphyxiated.
The count of victims could rise when authorities have searched all areas involved, state prisons chief Jarbas Vasconcelos said at a news conference.
Russi Taylor: Minnie Mouse voice actress dies aged 75
Russi Taylor, the voice of Disney's Minnie Mouse for more than 30 years, has died aged 75.
The actress died in Glendale, California on Friday, the Walt Disney Company has said.
Since 1986, Taylor provided voice-overs for animated TV series, films and theme parks featuring Mickey Mouse's high-pitched and giggly partner Minnie.
She also played characters in The Simpsons, including Bart's dorky classmate Martin.
Mirroring the character she played, Taylor married Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey until his death in 2009.
Arsenal excites fans as they agree to buy Lille winger Nicolas Pepe for €80 million
Fans of Arsenal football club have been left excited with the English side set to make a statement signing after reportedly agreeing to buy Lille winger Nicolas Pepe for €80 million. According to BBC Sport, the Gunners will pay in installments and an agreement over a five-year deal is expected to be reached in the next 48 hours between Arsenal and Pepe's representatives.
This comes after the Ivorian winger met with Napoli during the week with the Serie A club leading the race to secure his signature amid significant interests. But their proposal has been rejected by Pepe's agent, who is pushing for a Nicolas Pepe, who signed for Lille from Angers in 2017, has scored 35 goals in 74 appearances.

Australian swimmer Shayna Jack tested positive for a banned substance before the World Aquatics Championships, Swimming Australia has said. Jack, 20, who withdrew from the championships on 14 July, says she "did not take the substance knowingly".
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority found an adverse result in an out-of-competition test on 26 June. Swimming Australia said it then provisionally suspended Jack and she was unable to compete in South Korea. The Asada investigations are ongoing.

A woman has told of how she loves nothing more than cuddling her giant African snail on the sofa - and doesn't mind when it covers her body in slime. Magdalena Dusza, from Krakow, Poland, adopted slimey pal Misiek after spotting in an appalling condition in a pet shop.
Ever since she was a young girl she knew that she would rather have a pet snail over a cat or dog like most people. And despite the large amount of space Misiek takes up in her home - he has a 130-litre tank - Magdalena says it is very easy to look after him.

A Polish court has ordered conservative newspaper Gazeta Polska to halt the distribution of "LGBT-free zone" stickers it included in this week's issue. The stickers show a black cross superimposed on a rainbow flag. The stickers had caused widespread outrage, and sparked criticism from the US ambassador to Poland.
Tablet burns through bed at night inches away from the face of an 11-year-old boy
An 11-year-old boy narrowlly escaped what would have been a tragedy after his Samsung tablet reportedly overheated and burned a hole in his bed, just inches from his face. Mum Amy Hewkin, 33, said she was woken last Thursday by son Callum, who believed his tablet was stuck to his bed. Amy and husband Stewart, 32, claim when they found the tablet, it was minutes from catching fire and filled their son’s room with white smoke, leaving a melted hole in his bedding and mattress down to the metal springs.

Two killed after nightclub balcony collapsed in Korea
Tragedy struck at a South Korean nightclub, as two died while 16 others were injured after the facility's balcony collapsed. Hundreds were at the nightclub in the southern city of Gwangju when the collapse occurred next to the athletes' village where a world swimming championship is ongoing. Eight athletes including an Olympic gold medallist, US water polo player Kaleigh Gilchrist who won at the Rio Games, were caught up in the tragedy. Cell phone video showed people literally holding up the balcony to try to prevent it from falling.

At least three people were killed at the Gilroy Garlic Festival after a shooter opened fire on people attending the annual food festival in northern California. Though it couldn't be confirmed if there was any suspect in custody Joy Alexiou, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Public Health System revealed that at least 11 people were transported to two hospitals in fair to critical condition.
Dead body found in Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny's home in Egypt
A dead body was reportedly found in Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny's home in Egypt. According to Gazetta, the midfielder's father found the corpse at the house in the city of Mahalla Al-Kubra.
The shocking discovery was made on Friday, July 26, 2019, before police were alerted. The home where the body was found is currently under construction.
The website 24.ae claim the body was found ‘in the patio’ at the home.
Police are yet to formally identify the deceased and it is not known whether it was a criminal act or an accident but an investigation has been launched.

A Tui flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger spat in his wife’s face during a row. Edward Mongan, 42, and his wife were in the Mexico-bound flight on July 21 when a row broke out between them. He was warned by cabin crew over the use of his strong language towards his wife but he became even more enraged and began abusing staff members.

An air strike has killed five doctors in a hospital in the southern outskirts of Libya's capital Tripoli.
According to an official from the UN-backed government, a warplane belonging to Khalifa Hafta, the rogue general who commands the Libyan National Army, carried out the attack, the health ministry spokesman added.

Boeing is warning that it might have to halt production of the 737 Max if grounding continues much longer. The company reported its largest-ever quarterly loss of $3.4bn (£2.7bn) on Wednesday due to the troubled plane. If hurdles with regulators worldwide continue, Boeing said it would consider reducing or shutting down production of the 737 Max entirely.

Europe heatwave breaks more temperature records
Parts of Western Europe are seeing record-breaking temperatures as the second heatwave in a month reaches its peak on Thursday.
Germany set a new temperature record, reaching 41.5C (106.7F) in the west.
A red alert was issued in northern France - with Paris temperatures hitting a record-breaking 42.6C.
The UK recorded a record temperature for July of 38.1C and trains were ordered to run more slowly to stop rail tracks buckling in the heat.
The Netherlands also recorded its highest ever temperature, at 40.7C.
"Climate change has increased the likelihood and severity of heatwave episodes across Europe," the UK's national weather service said.

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a victory by letting his administration redirect $2.5 billion in money approved by Congress for the Pentagon to help build his promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border even though lawmakers refused to provide funding.
The conservative-majority court on a 5-4 vote with the court’s liberals in dissent ,blocked in full a ruling by a federal judge in California barring the Republican president from spending the money on the basis that Congress did not specifically authorize the funds to be spent on the wall project fiercely opposed by Democrats and Mexico’s government.
Tunisia’s parliament speaker sworn in as interim president following the death of President Essebsi
Mohamed Ennaceur, Tunisia’s parliamentary speaker, has been sworn in as the country’s interim president. The appointment of the interim president comes just hours after the death of president Beji Caid Essebsi.
Ennaceur took the oath of office at the assembly in the capital Tunis, the agency said. According to the Tunisian constitution, the head of the parliament can temporarily serve as president for a maximum period of 90 days.
Following Ennaceur’s statement on national television, the country’s ministry of interior said that Tunisia’s security situation is stable and that the ministry is carrying out its national duty. The country will hold presidential elections ahead of the previously scheduled November 17 date.

Zimbabwe arrests female minister, Prisca Mupfumira for corruption
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira on allegations of corruption.
A senior ZACC official confirmed that Mupfumira was currently being interviewed at the commission’s offices. ZACC was recently granted arresting powers through a Statutory Instrument.
“Yes, we have picked her up. We are currently interviewing her, but she is not going back home,” the source said.
The corruption allegations emanate from an audit report on the National Social Security Authority which reportedly unearthed various financial transgressions at the institution. She becomes the first Cabinet minister to be arrested on corruption charges since President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed the current team in 2018.
British hacker Marcus Hutchins escapes US jail
The British computer hacker who helped stop a major cyber-attack affecting the NHS in 2017 has avoided a jail sentence in the US over malicious hacking charges. In April, 25-year-old Marcus Hutchins pleaded guilty to two charges of making malicious software, or malware.
Prosecutors alleged that the malware let cyber-criminals steal online banking details from internet users. Hutchins admitted to creating two programs known as Kronos and UPAS Kit. Since Hutchins' arrest in 2017, he has remained in the US on bail.
The judge presiding at Hutchins' hearing, JP Stadtmueller, said that the 25-year-old would face one year of supervised release.
However, he would be allowed to return to the UK and would not have to pay any fines.
Hutchins had faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

A six-year-old girl has splashed out more than £6 million on a massive skyscraper. The youngster and her parents rake in a whopping £2.5 million every month by running two YouTube channels.
The little South Korean, known as Boram, has more than 30 million subscribers.
And she and her parents have bought the building in Seoul's posh Gangnam district for $8 million (£6.4 million).
The building, built in 1975, is on 258.3 square meters of land.It's unclear exactly why the family has bought the structure.
But the girl's Boram Tube Vlog has 17.5 million subscribers, and her Boram Tube ToyReview has reeled in 13.6 million subscribers.
It means the child is one of the most-followed Korean YouTube creators.

American rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault after a confrontation in Stockholm in June, prosecutors said. The 30-year-old -- whose real name is Rakim Mayers -- has been in custody since July 3, following a confrontation in the Swedish capital on June 30.
The rapper's lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, has maintained he was defending himself after being assaulted and that his client is innocent.

Thousands of Puerto Ricans gathered Wednesday in the commonwealth capital of San Juan to demand the resignation of Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, the second mass demonstration against the embattled leader this week.
Waving Puerto Rican flags -- some in black and gray to signal their discontent with the government -- and chanting demands that Rosselló step down, demonstrators of every age group said they were fed up with the corruption of elected officials as well as crippling austerity measures that have scaled back necessary services in recent years.
Libya shipwreck: Scores of migrants feared drowned
At least 115 people are missing, feared drowned, after a boat carrying migrants sank off the coast of Libya, a navy official says. Gen Ayoub Kacem said 134 people were rescued and a body recovered.
The boat was carrying some 250 people from a number of African and Arab countries when it sank 8km (five miles) from the coast, Gen Kacem said.
The UN's refugee agency said it was the deadliest shipwreck in the Mediterranean so far this year.
At least 65 migrants died in May after their boat capsized off the coast of Tunisia. Sixteen people survived.

A Canadian couple who went on a recent hunting trip in South Africa horrified animal rights activists after posting a photo of themselves kissing behind a lion they had just shot and killed.
The image of Darren and Carolyn Carter, who own Solitude Taxidermy in Alberta, was posted on the Legelela Safaris Facebook page. It is unclear if this was the same safari the couple was on when they shot and killed the lion.

A 14-year-old school boy, who had reportedly suffered bullying, lay down on tracks and was crushed to death by a train as classmates watched.
Sam Connor, a "bright and popular" pupil at Salesian School - a Roman Catholic comprehensive in Chertsey - died on Monday afternoon at Chertsey railway station, in Surrey. He reportedly gave his school bag and mobile phone to a friend then slid off the platform and onto the tracks as horrified classmates watched a train kill him.
Cameroon: 30 bus passengers kidnapped
About 30 bus passengers were abducted by Cameroon’s armed separatists on Friday along Fundong-Bamenda highway in the Northwest.
The area is one of the two war-torn English-speaking regions of Cameroon.
“Three transport buses left Fundong for Bamenda and were stopped at Belo by armed separatists,” Samuel Nkwain, a driver who witnessed the incident, told Xinhua.

7-months-old baby dies after getting trapped between mother's bed and his cot
An inquest into the death of 7-months-old Jermaine Harris, revealed how the baby boy was found dead after getting trapped between his mother's bed and his cot on February 13, 2019.
Ms Harris had woken at 6am and taken Jermaine out of his cot to feed him from a bottle. She however went out to receive a call shortly after, but returned not to find him. The baby boy was later found dead, wedged in a small gap between the bed and cot.
Islamic TV channel faces ban in UK for saying gay people are worse than 'pigs and magicians' should be executed
An Islamic TV station could be stripped of its UK broadcasting licence over provocative comments made about gays and magicians. Peace TV, based in Dubai, was found to have shown four programmes which breached Ofcom regulations on inciting crime, hate speech and abuse, Daily Mail reported.
The channel which is broadcast on Sky and also airs in the US, said the programmes were based on Islamic teachings but in one of the programmes, presenter Imam Qasim Kha said gay people are worse than pigs and that magicians should be executed.
WHO certifies new HIV treatment drug
An antiretroviral drug dolutegravir, commonly known as DTG, has been certified safe for use by pregnant women and those in their reproductive years by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Though initial research linked the drug with neural tube defects (NTDs) in infants born to women using dolutegravir at the time of conception, recent studies have shown that it is far more tolerable than the older drug efavirenz, which patients have reported causes depression and hallucinations in the first few months and could lead to people not staying on treatment.
