Over 200 people detained by Turkish government for ‘illicit money transfers’ to the United States


Turkish police detained over 200 people in a major nationwide crackdown on illicit money transfers to individuals of Iranian-origin living in the United States.   An Istanbul court issued arrest warrants for a total of 417 suspects and have so far rounded up 216 in a nationwide operation carried out in 40 cities, the official Anadolu news agency reported. The suspects are facing charges including criminal conspiracy and violating measures to prevent terrorism financing, Anadolu said.

Diego Maradona advises Lionel Messi to retire from the national team


Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona has urged Lionel Messi to retire from international football.  Messi has not played for Argentina since the 2018 World Cup and has missed matches against Guatemala and Colombia recently. He has now also been ruled out of friendlies against Iran and Brazil later this month and his future has been in doubt since the South Americans were knocked out of the World Cup by France in the last 16.

A twisted psychopath who dug up the bodies of dead female children and turned their corpses into dolls could be freed from a secure hospital. Anatoly Moskvin stole the bodies of 29 dead children from a graveyard and hid at the flat he shared with his parents in Russia.
Moskvin mummified the dead children and dressed them in stockings, female clothing and knee-length boots to make them look like dolls, even applying lipstick and make-up to their faces. He wedged music boxes inside their rib cages.

Death toll rises to over 1,200 in Indonesia tsunami


The number of people known to have died in Indonesia in Friday's earthquake and tsunami has risen to more than 1,200, the country's disaster response agency says. The death toll jumped on Tuesday from a previous confirmed figure of 844. The 7.5-magnitude quake struck just off the central island of Sulawesi, setting off a tsunami that engulfed the coastal city of Palu.

Portugal shipwreck is 'discovery of a decade'


A 400-year-old shipwreck has been discovered off the coast of Portugal.  The find is part of a 10-year archaeological project supported by the town of Cascais, the Portuguese government and navy, and Nova University in Lisbon.
Project director Jorge Freire called it the "discovery of a decade".

Former model accuses Ronaldo of rape, football star calls it 'fake news'


Cristiano Ronaldo is facing allegations of rape by a former model who accuses the Portuguese superstar of attacking her in his Las Vegas hotel penthouse suite in 2009.
Ronaldo, who now plays for Juventus in Italy's Serie A, rejected the charges as "fake news" during a live chat on Instagram.
"What they said today, fake - fake news," the 33-year-old star of the Portuguese national team said in a post that was later deleted.

Actor Kevin Spacey sued by masseur who claims the star 'forced him to rub his testicles and tried to kiss him'


Actor Kevin Spacey, 59,  is being sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a masseur.
According to a Friday report from TMZ, the male masseuse who asked to file as a John Doe was called in by a third party to meet the now 59-year-old actor at his home in Malibu before he was lead into a room to set up a massage table.   The accuser claims he had asked Spacey to lay face down on the table but the actor insisted on facing up.

NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal's 18-year-old son to undergo Heart Surgery


American basketball legend, Shaquille O'Neal's son will be undergoing a heart surgery. Shareef O'Neal, a basketball player with UCLA men announced on Friday that he will sit out his freshman season due to "a serious heart issue" that will require surgery.

Formular 1 athlete, Lewis Hamilton has just won his third straight race victory after clinching the Russian Grand Prix ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel this afternoon.
 The British racing driver, 33, who races for Mercedes AMG Petronas clinched the win after his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, pulled over to let him through as the pair approached halfway in Sunday's Russian Grand Prix.

Cardi B arrested and charged with two misdemeanours: assault and reckless endangerment


American rapper, Cardi B has been arrested by the NYPD in connection with an alleged assault at a strip club.   She was arrested on Monday Oct.1 and charged with two misdemeanors, assault and reckless endangerment, after turning herself into New York police department. Her mugshot was taken and she was fingerprinted. 

Zimbabwe: Chaos as well-known pastor gets caught having sex with church member in bush


A prominent pastor (AFM Church) from Tynwald in Dzivarasekwa, Joseph Ponda was caught pants down in the act with an unidentified member of his assembly. The pastor is said to be currently nursing his wounds after being attacked by passers-by who caught the two near a hill in bushy area. Part of the humiliation has already gone viral.

Mass burials in Indonesia as tsunami-quake death toll hits 832


The death toll from Indonesia's quake and tsunami disaster nearly doubled to 832 Sunday and was expected to rise further, prompting authorities to announce mass burials in a desperate attempt to stave off disease. As shattered survivors scoured make-shift morgues for loved ones, and  authorities struggled to dig out the living or assess the scale of the devastation beyond the city of Palu, grim warnings came that the eventual toll could reach thousands.

French President Emmanuel Macron has been attacked after a picture of him posing with two bare-chested men with one of them flipping the middle finger surfaced online. During his recent trip to Saint Martin to inspect the reconstruction work after the Caribbean island was devastated by hurricanes Irma and Maria last year, Emmanuel Macron spent quality good time with the locals affected by the tragedy.

Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe accuses his own club of match-fixing to FIFA


Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe, who plays in China has reported his own club, Beijing Enterprises, to FIFA over allegations of match-fixing. The former Everton, West Brom and Sunderland striker reportedly lodged the complaint after alleging he was asked 'not to try' by coaches on two occasions, including for a game against their local rivals. The 30-year-old who joined the Chinese club in June 2017 claimed he was told by team-mates: 'This is China, we do as we're told.'

Two pilots dead and passenger couple critically injured after private jet speeds off runway and crashes into fence, breaking into two


Two people have died and two have been seriously injured after a private jet sped off runway in South Carolina airport and crashed into a fence. The private jet landed at 1.40pm on Thursday at the Greenville Downtown Airport, but instead of coming to a stop it ran off the runway and crashed into a fence, breaking the aircraft into two.
