Police have revealed the identity of the man accused of killing seven people and injuring more than 20 others on a shooting rampage in Texas last weekend.  Seth Ator, 36, was shot and killed by police in the car park of the Cinergy cinema in Odessa, Texas, on Saturday afternoon August 31 .
 The shooting spree began after Ator refused to obey when police tried to pull him over at a set of traffic lights. He then went on to shoot at police before he used a rifle to kill his victims.

Spanish pop star dies after being struck by firework display on stage, caught on video by horrified onlookers

A rising Spanish pop star was killed Sunday after a firework display at a music festival went horribly wrong. Joana Sainz, 30, was performing with the group, Super Hollywood Orchestra, at a festival in Las Berlanas, Spain Sunday evening when she was reportedly struck by a pyrotechnic device - a horrific scene that was caught on camera by fans.

MTN shuts down operations in Nigeria “until further notice”- #Xenophobia

The retaliatory attacks on a host of South African businesses in Nigeria arrive on the heels of persistent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa.
The latest attacks in South Africa led to the torching and looting of over 50 shops--most of whom belonged to Nigerians.

Colombian police find more than 650 pounds of marijuana hidden inside coffin

They were expecting to see a corpse – but found more than 650 pounds of marijuana instead. Colombian police officers that stopped and inspected a vehicle recently near the country’s border with Venezuela uncovered a coffin that contained dozens of packages of marijuana weighing a combined 661 pounds, the El Tiempo newspaper reports.
The driver of the vehicle, who was pulled over on a road headed to Cúcuta, had been asked to open the coffin so officers could look over its contents.
The driver has since been taken into custody.
Video released by police shows officers removing the coffin from the car and opening it up, revealing the tan-colored packages inside.

Ariana Grande sues Forever 21 over ads featuring 'look-alike model'

Ariana Grande has a problem with Forever 21. The singer on Monday filed a suit against both the clothing company and spinoff beauty brand Riley Rose, alleging they "stole" the singer's "name, likeness and other intellectual property to promote their brands for free."
In the suit, obtained by CNN, Grande's legal team alleges the clothing company sought out an endorsement deal with Grande in late 2018 and early 2019, but the request was "explicitly declined due to Forever 21's unwillingness to pay the fair market value for a celebrity of Ms. Grande's stature."

Man arrested in Madrid for taking upskirt videos of more than 550 women

A man has been arrested in Madrid on suspicion of taking upskirt videos of more than 550 women and posting much of the content online. The 53-year-old Colombian man allegedly filmed the videos on a mobile phone hidden in a backpack.
Police say he then uploaded at least 283 videos to p-rnographic websites, racking up millions of views. Many of the 555 victims - some of which were underage - were targeted on the capital's Metro system.

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan joins Roma on a 12-month loan

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has joined Roma a 12-month loan deal.  Mkhitaryan arrived in Rome on Monday morning (September 2) to finalise the deal and underwent a medical with the Serie A side. He will wear No.77 shirt for the Italian club.
 According to Sky in Italy, Roma will pay Arsenal a loan fee of €3m (£2.7m) with the deal not expected to include an option to buy.

Six die, one tourist still missing as flood ravages Kenyan park

Six bodies have been recovered and one tourist is still missing after they were swept away by a flash flood in Hell’s Gate National Park, the Kenya Wildlife Service confirmed on Monday. A search-and-rescue team was dispatched on Sunday after the group, which is said to have included five Kenyans, a local tour guide and one tourist whose nationality is not yet known.

17-year old boy goes blind after eating only french fries, pringles, white bread and sausage for years

A 17-year-old boy who lived on chips, Pringles and processed ham has gone blind because of a lack of vitamins in his diet. The fussy-eating teenager from Bristol, who is now 19, hadn't eaten a fruit or vegetable in a decade. His only daily meal was a portion of chips which was accompanied throughout the day by crisps, deep-fried sausages and the occasional ham sandwich.  The unnamed student, who has had to drop out of studying IT at college, was deficient in several key vitamins including vitamin B12, copper and vitamin D.

25 dead, many missing in California boat fire

Twenty-five bodies have been recovered on the ocean floor after a boat was destroyed by fire off the coast of California, the US Coast Guard says. Nine people are still missing. Five crew members had escaped earlier.
The fire started in the early hours of Monday. The boat was anchored just metres off Santa Cruz Island, about 90 miles (145km) west of Los Angeles. The Conception - a commercial diving boat - is now submerged. The cause of the blaze is so far unknown.

George Washington's real-life hair is going up on sale for $50k at Auction.  The hair of the first President of the United States who served from 1789 to 1797 will be sold at auction next month though RR's online auction house. It's expected to rake in $50k or maybe more.
 According to TMZ, a lock of white hair measuring in at 4 inches was cut by one of George's relatives while he was serving as President in 1790. It was memorialized with a handwritten "letter of provenance" (like a certificate of authenticity) in 1889 as it was passed to different parties, including the man who introduced caramel candy to America.

Ex-Cambodian provincial governor jailed for 13 years for killing his mistress

Former Takeo provincial governor Lay Vannak was on Monday September 2, handed a 13-year jail sentence by a Cambodian court after being found guilty of murdering his mistress.  The 36-year-old former Governor's mistress, Chev Sovathana was found dead at her home in Takeo province’s Daun Keo city in January 2018. The deceased was found hanging in her rented villa in southern Takeo province, misleading local police into announcing it was a case of suicide at first.

A father in Saudi Arabia has set the standards for parents buying birthday presents for their children when he accidentally purchased two Airbus A350-1000s after searching for small scale models of the plane for his son.
The Saudi man, who remains unnamed and is an investor in the kingdom’s energy sector, was searching for small models of the plane as a birthday gift for his son who is a big fan of aviation. When he called the world’s second biggest aerospace company Airbus to obtain the model planes, however, his lack of verbal clarity in the English language made communication between him and company difficult.

French Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert, 22, is killed in a crash at the Belgium Grand Prix

Anthoine Hubert, a Formula 2 driver has been killed in a crash at the Belgian Grand Prix. The 22-year-old Frenchman reportedly died following a 170mph collision at the Raidillon swerves part of the high-speed Spa-Francorchamps track near to the German border on Saturday, August 31.
 Footage of the incident show Hubert slamming into the barriers on the far side of the circuit before sliding across the track.

The current xenophobia-related violence in South Africa is now affecting matters on the sporting field. Bafana Bafana's friendly match against Zambia has been called off. The two teams were due to play each other in Lusaka on Saturday but the Zambia FA decided against hosting South Africa while foreigners are still being targeted in the country.
The game will now be played in the next international window in October.
The cancellation will delay Molefi Ntseki's Bafana head coach debut.

Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey’s account was hacked Friday, demonstrating the potential vulnerabilities of even the most high-profile social media accounts. Starting Friday afternoon, Dorsey’s @jack account began unleashing a stream of more than a dozen tweets and retweets, including obscenities, shout-outs, threats and racial slurs. The tweets remained on the account, which has 4.2 million followers, for less than an hour before Twitter removed them.

FIFA announce three-man shortlist for Men's Player of the Year award

Shortlists for eight of 'The Best FIFA Football Awards' have been announced by football's governing body. The prizes will be handed out during a ceremony on Monday, September 23 in Milan.

Honduras recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital

President Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras will on Friday August 30, initiate the final move of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by travelling to the city to inaugurate a 'diplomatic office'.
 Honduras' foreign ministry in a statement ahead of the inauguration, said Israel had proposed the embassy's relocation to Jerusalem even though it is being "analyzed and evaluated in the international and national context".
