Zimbabwe says white farmers can apply for seized land

 

 The Zimbabwean government has said that white farmers whose tracts of land were seized between 2000 and 2001 under a government programme of land reform can apply to get them back. Where the land cannot be given back, the farmers will be offered land elsewhere, according to a joint statement by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and Lands and Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka.
The ministers said the government would revoke offer letters to black farmers who were resettled in the land.
They said the white farmers whose land was to be seized by government but is yet to be taken can apply to lease the land for 99 years.
Some 3,500 white farmers were evicted from their farms during the controversial land reforms.
Zimbabwe's government agreed in May to pay $3.5bn (£2.6bn) in compensation to white farmers whose land was taken during the land reforms.

Actress Lori Loughlin and husband jailed for college admissions scandal

 

 Actress Lori Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to federal charges connected to the college admissions cheating scandal. U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton accepted Loughlin’s plea agreement a few hours after he sentenced her husband, Mossimo Giannulli.
The 56-year-old “Full House” star will have to pay a $150,000 fine and complete 100 hours of community service.
She will have to self-surrender within 90 days from Friday, and will have supervised release for two years after completing her prison sentence.

Lawsuit says McDonald's discriminates against Black franchisees

 

In a complaint seeking up to $1 billion of damages, the plaintiffs said McDonald’s has not offered profitable restaurant locations and growth opportunities to Black franchisees on the same terms as white franchisees, belying its public commitment to diversity and Black entrepreneurship.
The complaint said McDonald’s saddled the plaintiffs under its standard 20-year franchise agreements with stores requiring high security and insurance costs, and whose $2 million average annual sales from 2011 to 2016 were $700,000 below the nationwide norm. Bankruptcy often resulted, they said.

Top aides to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were on board the direct flight from Tel Aviv to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on Israel's flag carrier El Al on Monday.

A mother and her son were allegedly caught having sex by the man's wife and the couple could now face 20 years in jail for incest. Tony L Lavoie, from Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was allegedly caught having sex with his mum Cheryl Lavoie, 64, in May earlier this year. Police were called to reports of a disturbance and the responding officer was greeted by a cousin of the wife of Tony.
 The cousin then told the officer Tony's wife had called her about walking in on her husband having sex with his mother before calling 911, reports Sentinel & Enterprise. The officer then reportedly spoke to the mum and son to acknowledge they had consensual sex relations.

Brazilian gospel singer turned MP is charged with 'murdering her husband with help from at least 10' of their 55 children

 

 A Brazilian Congresswoman, Flordelis de Souza has been charged with ordering the execution of her husband with the help of at least 10' of their 55 children. Pastor Anderson do Carmo was shot more than 30 times at their home in June 2019.
 In a statement released this week, the Rio de Janeiro state police said a total of 11 people have been charged in connection with the crime, including six of Souza's children and one granddaughter.
 Investigators believe up to 10 of her children may have been involved in the crime, local sources say.
 The couple shared 55 biological and adopted children together.

Kenya Stevens is in a polyamorous relationship and is open to falling in love with others though she has two husbands.  She refers to them as "Hubby 1" and "Hubby 2" and sometimes jokes about taking "Hubby 3".
She said she has been with her two "life partners" for years and they have grown kids.

Two gold nuggets worth $350,000 found in Australia

 

Two gold nuggets worth around A$350,000 (£190,000; US$250,000) have been discovered by a pair of diggers in southern Australia. Brent Shannon and Ethan West found the nuggets near goldmining town Tarnagulla in Victoria state. Their lucky find was shown on TV show Aussie Gold Hunters, which aired on Thursday. The men dug up the ground and used metal detectors to detect gold in the area.
"These are definitely one of the most significant finds," Ethan West said, according to CNN. "To have two large chunks in one day is quite amazing."
They found the nuggets, which have a combined weight of 3.5kg (7.7lb), in a number of hours with the help of Mr West's father, according to the Discovery Channel which airs the programme.

Richard Stamp, 54, from London, who has worked as an actor and clown for over 20 years, was in Cambodia when he discovered a lump on his penis in 2018.
Despite suffering two months of pain, he put off seeking medical attention before he was finally diagnosed with penile cancer in Adelaide, Australia, and was told he would have to have his penis removed. 

Former India president Mukherjee dies after developing lung infection

 

 Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who had tested positive for COVID-19 this month, died on Monday after weeks in hospital. He was 84. New Delhi’s Army Hospital (Research And Referral) said earlier in the day that Mukherjee had gone into a septic shock after coming down with a lung infection. His medical condition had declined since Sunday, it added. A veteran politician who served as foreign and finance minister in previous administrations led by the now-opposition Congress party, Mukherjee had friends on both sides of the political divide.
“He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter, posting a picture of him touching Mukherjee’s feet in reverence.
“A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society.”

Ecuadorian spouses who have been married for 79-years, become the world's oldest married couple

 

 Ecuadorian spouses, 110-year-old Julio Cesar Mora Tapia and 104-year-old Waldramina Maclovia Quinteros Reyes, who have been married for 79 years, are now the world's oldest married couple. The pair secured the title of the oldest married couple, with an aggregate age of 214 years and 358 days, according to Guinness World Records.
 Julio Cesar was born on March 10th, 1910, and Waldramina was born on October 16, 1915. The couple met through her sister's husband, who was Julio Cesar’s cousin. After becoming friends which led to a loving relationship, they got married seven years later on February 7, 1941.
They went on to become the parents of five children. Their oldest son sadly died at the age of 58.

The Wisconsin cop who shot Jacob black in the back seven times has been identified as officer Rusten Sheskey, as more details from the case have emerged. The shooting, which occurred on Sunday, August 23, is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
 An initial account of Sunday's incident fingers Sheskey as the trigger man.
 According to the Department of Justice, Kenosha Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence after a female caller reported her boyfriend was there when he was not supposed to be.
 During the incident, the DOJ says police attempted to arrest Jacob and used a taser to try and stop him, but it didn't work.

 The England international, 27, was convicted of all charges on Tuesday and was handed a 21 month and ten-day sentence suspended for three years by a court on the island of Syros, in Greece.
 Maguire's brother, Joe who plays for non-league team Ilkeston Town, was also found guilty of assault, attacking police and attempted bribery while a third man, 29-year-old Christopher Sharman, was guilty of two assault charges and another of verbal abuse.

Saba Sahar, a trailblazing actress, director, police officer and women's rights activist, was targeted on Tuesday, with the attack happening five minutes from her house.  
Her husband, Emal Zaki, told the BBC that she was one of five people in the vehicle, including the driver, two bodyguards and a child.
It was not clear if the child was one of Sahar's children.

Pastor Jerry first took an indefinite leave of absence from Liberty University earlier this month after posting a photo of himself on Instagram with his trousers unzipped and his arm around a woman.

Parma have dismissed coach Roberto d'Aversa three weeks after the end of the season, the Serie A club announced on Sunday. D'Aversa, 45, took charge of Parma when they were in the third-tier Lega Pro in 2016 and earned consecutive promotions to restore the club to the Serie A.
"Parma announce that Roberto D'Aversa has been relieved of his role of first team coach," the club said in a statement.
"This is a result of the fact that over the last few weeks, the cohesion, unity of intent, harmony and mutual enthusiasm which have been so key to the successes achieved together over the last few years have disappeared."
Parma, who were relegated to fourth division in 2015 after being declared bankrupt, finished 11th in Serie A last season after being 14th in their first campaign back in the top division.

John Lennon's murderer is denied parole for the 11th time in 40 years

 

 Mark David Chapman, 65, the man who shot and killed Beatles star, John Lennon has been denied parole for the 11th time and will remain behind bars for at least another two years. It's been almost 40 years since he shot the Beatles star dead outside of his Manahattan apartment in December 1980.
He is serving a 20-year-to-life sentence at Wende Correctional Facility in New York.
The New York State Board of Parole said Chapman's parole was denied following an interview on August 19. He is next scheduled to appear before the board in 2022.
The reasons for the denial were not immediately available.

Arsenal agree €30m to sign Gabriel from Lille - sources

 

 Arsenal have agreed a €30 million deal to sign defender Gabriel Magalhaes from French side Lille, sources have told ESPN. Gabriel, 22, will travel to London for a medical on Monday before signing a contract at the Emirates.
ESPN reported on Tuesday that the Gunners were hopeful of signing the centre-back this summer after the Lille president Gerard Lopez said Gabriel was set to decide his future.
 Gabriel did not feature in Lille's Ligue 1 opening day draw against Rennes on Saturday. Arsenal have fended off competition from Manchester United, Everton and Napoli to secure Gabriel's signature.
The Brazil under-20 international played a key role in helping Lille secure Champions League football for the last two consecutive seasons.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has bolstered his defensive options ahead of the upcoming campaign with Gabriel's signing and the arrival of William Saliba returning from a season-long loan at Saint-Etienne.
David Luiz, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares signed long-term deals with the club in June while Willian joined on a free transfer after his seven-year spell with London rivals Chelsea.
