Luis Suarez 'TERMINATES his contract at Barcelona' as they finally force him out

 

Luis Suarez has finally sealed his acrimonious exit from Barcelona after reportedly agreeing a termination of his contract. Despite long-term interest from Juventus it appears that Atletico Madrid is the next destination for the Uruguayan striker, according to Spanish outlet RAC.
The Uruguayan and the Blaugrana have agreed to rescind his contract, and he will now leave the Camp Nou as a free agent in this window.
The 33-year-old will renounce part of his salary and will leave one year before the expiry of his contract, RAC1 has reported, news that has since been confirmed by a number of other major outlets in Spain.

Young man arrested with fresh head of a child at Uganda Parliament, says it is 'gift' for the Speaker

 

What can only be described as a horror movie played out on Monday September 14th at the Parliament building in Uganda when a 23-year-old man was arrested as he attempted to deliver a child’s head to the Office of the Speaker. It is said that the alleged fresh human head was wrapped in form of a gift that was meant to be delivered to the Speaker, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga’s office.
The man whose identity is not yet disclosed was intercepted at the parliament gate opposite the National Theatre by security while trying to access the speaker’s office.

Bill Gates’ father, William Henry Gates dies at 94

 

The father of Bill Gates, billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, is dead. William Henry Gates II died this week aged 94. The cause of his death was Alzheimer’s disease, his family said on Tuesday. Gates senior was an Army veteran and a founding partner in a Seattle law firm, according his official biography.
“We will miss him more than we can express right now We are feeling grief but also gratitude”, said the Microsoft billionaire, 64, while announcing the passing of his father in a post published on his blog Tuesday. “His wisdom, generosity, empathy, and humility had a huge influence on people around the world”.

Florida house covered in beer cans set to sell for $100,000

 

 A listing for a condo in Florida is going viral after pictures were posted online showing off an unusual aspect of the decor -- the walls and ceilings of the home are covered in Budweiser beer cans.
Realtor, Kristen Kearney said she initially didn't know what to expect when she received a call about listing the condo.
"They warned me that the home was wallpapered in beer cans," Kearney said.
"And I thought to myself, 'Well, I wonder where in the world they found beer-can wallpaper.'"
The reality of the home turned out to be far stranger -- the "wallpaper" was actual beer cans.
Kearney said the cans cover every wall and ceiling of the home, except for the bathroom.

 Barcelona are ready to make Luis Suarez watch the entire 2020/2021 season from the stands, if he does not leave the club, according to Sport. Suarez has been told by new manager, Ronald Koeman, that he is surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.
The 33-year-old has been in discussions with Juventus over a move, but the negotiations have slowed down in recent days.
Suarez has been training away from the first team as Koeman continues to freeze him out.
He was left out of Barca’s pre-season 3-1 win over Gimnastic on Saturday.
The LaLiga giants have been in talks with Suarez and his representatives over the termination of his contract, which has one year to go before it expires next summer.
Despite his transfer saga with Koeman, Suarez has carried on training with the team, with the forward keen on remaining professional until the last minute of being a Barcelona player.

Formula one icon, Lewis Hamilton on Sunday September 13, brought the 'Black Lives matter' movement to the forefront of Formula One as he wore a t-shirt of Breonna Taylor, a young woman who was tragically killed by police.  Breonna, 26, died in March after being shot by police officers several times when they entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky.
 On Sunday, Hamilton, 35, won the Formula One Tuscan GP but acknowledged the Black Lives Matter movement before celebrating his win.  

US sanctions wife of former Gambia leader Jammeh

 

 The United States on Tuesday imposed economic sanctions on the wife of former Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh, who was accused of corruption during his 22-year rule and is the target of similar measures.
“Zineb Jammeh is believed to control many of the overseas assets of her husband,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement.
He said the sanctions punish “her role in materially assisting, sponsoring, or providing support to her husband. She utilized a charitable foundation and charities as cover to facilitate the illicit transfer of funds to her husband.”

United Nations chief asks individuals and nations to contribute $35bn for WHO's initiatives to fight Covid-19

 

 United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has called for a “quantum leap in funding” for the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) initiative to speed up the development of COVID-19 vaccine.
The UN Chief said as much as $35bn would be needed in order to efficiently fund the fight against COVID-19. According to Guterres, the funding project, known as the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT), has received 3 billion dollars.
The initiative, which was launched at a Brussels donor conference in May, advocates for the fair distribution of future vaccines and medications to developing as well as developed countries.
 ACT also takes funds from major philanthropic health gunds such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, as well as the Britain-based Wellcome Trust.

Diana Rigg, The Avengers and Game of Thrones star, dies at the age of 82

 

 English actress, Diana Rigg, known for her roles on stage and in film including The Avengers and Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 82. Confirming her death, Rigg’s longtime friend and talent agent, Lionel Larner, said she died “peacefully” this morning, adding that she had been “at home in England with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time”.
 "She was a beautiful kind and generous human being that enhanced the lives of all that knew her as well as a great actress. She leaves a great void in my heart,” she said.

‘Hotel Rwanda’ hero charged with terrorism, financing rebels

 

Paul Rusesabagina, whose actions during the genocide inspired the Oscar-nominated film “Hotel Rwanda”, was charged Monday with terrorism and other serious crimes in his first court appearance in Kigali.
Appearing drained, Rusesabagina appealed to the court to grant him bail to seek medical attention, however, the prosecution argued he was a flight risk and a ruling was pushed to Thursday.
Rusesabagina, who had become a high-profile critic of the government and has been living abroad for years, appeared last month in handcuffs and under arrest in Kigali.

200 Senegalese soldiers test positive for COVID-19

 

More than 200 Senegalese soldiers returning from The Gambia where they served in a regional security force have tested positive for Covid-19, Senegal’s army and health ministry said Tuesday.
An earlier statement by the army had said 100 members of the more than 600-strong contingent had contracted the virus.
The 208 soldiers are staying at an army “hotel” in the village of Guereo, some 60 kilometres (35 miles) south of the capital Dakar, an army PR official told AFP.

Violence erupts as Ivorians protest President’s third-term bid

 

Protests on Monday against Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara’s contentious plan to run for a third term turned violent in several cities as fears grow of a repeat of a conflict that claimed 3,000 lives in the West African country a decade ago.
In the economic capital Abidjan, protesters torched a bus in the working-class district of Yopougon, an AFP photographer said, after scuffles broke out earlier in the day between security forces and youths.
The district is thought to be a fief of exiled former president Laurent Gbagbo, whose supporters have filed an application for him to run in the October 31 presidential election.

Iconic Hollywood star, Chuck Norris is suing a company using his name to sell boner pills. The actor sued Bio-Molecular Solutions and Biogenetics for using his famous name and face to promote a product called Provitra which is like Viagra, after his wife Gena who is also suing the company discovered the scam in June.
 TMZ reported that Gena saw an online ad with a provocative headline "A Tragic End Today for Chuck Norris." Once the ad is clicked, the reader is taken to another site that looks very similar to a Fox News article with the headline, "Big Pharma In Outrage Over Norris' New ED Product...Chuck Kicks Back With This!"

Amazon bans sales of foreign seeds in US after mystery packets

 

 Amazon has banned sales of imported seeds in the United States after thousands of Americans said they had received packets of seeds they had not ordered, mostly from China.
“Moving forward, we are only permitting the sale of seeds by sellers who are based in the US,” the e-commerce giant said in a statement Saturday.
In late July the Department of Agriculture reported that packages of seeds had been sent to Americans and warned not to plant them, in case they posed a danger to US agriculture.
Examination of the mystery packages revealed at least 14 different kinds of seeds, including mint, mustard, rosemary, lavender, hibiscus and roses.
“At this time, we don’t have any evidence indicating this is something other than a ‘brushing scam’ where people receive unsolicited items from a seller who then posts false customer reviews to boost sales,” the Department of Agriculture said in a statement on August 12.

Queen Elizabeth II strips Harvey Weinstein of his CBE after he was jailed for 23 years for rape in New York

The Queen of England has stripped Harvey Weinstein of his 2004 Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire honor (CBE), for contribution to the British film industry, after he was convicted of rape in New York. The disgraced film producer, 68, was sentenced to 23 years in prison by a US court in February.
 A notice in The Gazette, the UK's official public record, today announced the Queen had directed the honour to be 'cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.'

 Barcelona striker, Lionel Messi has been unveiled as the highest-rated player in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team ahead of the game's release date in October. The 33-year-old Argentine superstar was awarded a 93 rating ahead of his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski. Ronaldo was awarded 92 while Lewandowski was rated 91.

Spain to extend furlough scheme into 2021, Labour Minister says

 

 The Spanish government is considering extending the nationwide ERTE furlough scheme that guarantees workers part of their income into 2021, Labour Minister Yolanda Diaz said on Monday.
“The date is open, but likely (Dec 31) would not be the most adequate and we have to extend a little beyond,” Diaz said in an interview on Spanish state TV station on Monday.
She added the extension might be longer for different industries. She said for instance the tourism industry would benefit from the scheme so long as they need it.

Bear shot dead after caught feeding on human remains

 

 A bear has been shot and killed by rangers after it was discovered feasting on human remains in a US national park, wildlife officials have confirmed. Campers raised the alarm after discovering an empty tent and National Park Services were scrambled to the scene.
There, they found the fully-grown black bear eating remains which were later confirmed to be those of an adult male.
Officials said they shot the bear dead because it was "actively scavenging" on the remains.
The man's cause of death isn't yet known and his identity hasn't been released, but he is believed to have been visiting from out of state.
In a statement, the National Parks Service said: "Rangers are currently working to notify the next of kin.
"The cause of death is unknown and the case remains under active investigation."

Ten school pupils burn to death in Tanzania fire

 

 Ten pupils have died in a fire in a school dormitory in north-western Tanzania’s Kagera region. Seven other pupils who sustained serious injuries have been hospitalised. The dormitory was housing boys aged six to 10 years.
Police have started investigations and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The fire started at one of the dormitories of Byamungu English Medium Primary School in Kyerwa district at around 04:30 local time.
Kyerwa District Commissioner Rashid Mwaimu told the BBC that the bodies were burnt beyond recognition and will need DNA tests to confirm the victims’ identities.

US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dead at 87

 

 Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died on Friday due to complications of metastatic pancreas cancer, the court announced. She was 87. Ginsburg was appointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton and in recent years served as the most senior member of the court's liberal wing, consistently delivering progressive votes on the most divisive social issues of the day, including abortion rights, same-sex marriage, voting rights, immigration, health care and affirmative action.
