Woman bans family from her funeral and publishes guest list in own obituary

 

A woman in Spain organized for her obituary to be published after her death with a guest list of those allowed to attend her burial. Maria Paz Fuentes Fernandez, who died on June 2, banned her family members from attending her funeral. She used her obituary in a newspaper to publish an exclusive guest list for her funeral.
 She wrote: "Since my family has not been by blood for a long time, I declare in my last will and testament that only the people mentioned below can attend my funeral service, be it at the funeral parlour, church or cemetery."
 The woman listed 15 names allowed to be present to pay their last respects.
 She added: "To everyone else who never cared during my life, I want you to carry on living far away from me, just like you were before."

Zambian President collapses during 45th Defence Force Day Commemoration

 

 The Zambian President, Edgar Lungi has collapsed. He collapsed today during the 45th Defence Force Day Commemoration and Investiture ceremony. The President was forced to cut short his presence and return to the State House. However, the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Simon Miti, as published by Lusakatimes, immediately announced that the president has recovered.
The statement read, “The President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, this afternoon experienced sudden dizziness whilst officiating at the 45th Defence Force Day Commemoration and Investiture Ceremony.

Eriksen unlikely to play football again according to a cardiologist

 

 Christian Eriksen is lucky to be alive but unlikely to play again after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest at the Euro 2020 tournament, according to a sports cardiologist. In dramatic scenes in Copenhagen, the 29-year-old midfielder dropped to the ground at the Parken Stadium soon before half-time in Denmark’s match against Finland. He was treated on the pitch before being taken to hospital.
The first-round match was suspended with players from both sides in clear distress before resuming some two hours later after Eriksen was said to be in a stable condition.
Finland won 1-0.

West Ham manager, David Moyes agrees new three-year deal amid Everton interest

 

 
David Moyes has reportedly agreed his new contract at West Ham despite the interest of former club Everton. The 58-year-old led West Ham to their second-best Premier League finish of sixth and qualification for Europe and has decided to commit himself to the club for the next three years.
The news will delight West Ham supporters as they feared Moyes would have been tempted away by former club Everton who had shortlisted the Scot as a potential candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti to moved to Real Madrid.
Speaking earlier this week, first-team coach Stuart Pearce revealed Moyes had agreed in principle to remain at West Ham.

France president Emmanuel Macron backs Chelsea star N'Golo Kante for Ballon d'Ór

 

 
France president Emmanuel Macron is among those pushing for N'Golo Kante to win the Ballon d'Or this year. Speaking to French radio RMC on Thursday June 10, from the team's training facility in Clairefontaine where he paid a visit to the national team, Macron was full of praise for the Chelsea midfielder.
"N'Golo Kante is a great player, like Kylian Mbappe and he is an example. He is an example for the youth of the country. When we see again the season Kante has had with his club, and I hope the Ballon d'Or too and I'm sure what he will do in this Euros," Macron said on the show "Top of the foot."
"Him and Kylian are good people too, with values of effort and togetherness. They are loyal to the clubs where they come from. And I think it is very important for the country because sport is always bigger than just sport."
 Kante, 30, has been outstanding in 2021 and is one of the main contenders to win the prestigious award which is given over a calendar year, not a season.

Borussia Dortmund reject Manchester United's opening bid of £67m for Jadon Sancho with the German club demanding £80m

 

Manchester United have had an opening offer of £67million rejected by Borussia Dortmund for winger Jadon Sancho. According to Mail Online, talks are ongoing but the clubs are understood to be around £14m apart in valuation for the 21-year-old. Dortmund wants £77m plus bonuses and wants the fee paid over four years as opposed to United's proposal to pay over five.
 All parties are wary of transfer talks turning into another saga with Dortmund wanting business tied up by July 23 when their squad comes together for pre-season camp.
 Dortmund have an agreement with Sancho that he can leave once his valuation is met and United are the main contenders for his signature.

A French court has sentenced the 28-year-old man who slapped France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, in the face to four months in prison. Damien Tarel was immediately arrested after the incident which occurred as the French leader was greeting a crowd in the region on Tuesday.
 The court in the south-east city of Valence convicted Tarel on Thursday June 10, on a charge of violence against a person invested with public authority. He was given four months in prison and an additional 14-month suspended sentence, and was banned from ever holding public office and from owning weapons for five years.
 Tarel described himself as a right-wing or extreme-right “patriot” and member of the gilets jaunes economic protest movement.

Naomi Osaka withdraws from upcoming Berlin tournament a week after pulling out of the French Open due to mental health reasons

 

Naomi Osaka has pulled out of a second tournament just a week after pulling out of the French Open due to mental health reasons. The Japanese tennis star withdrew from next week’s Berlin WTA 5000 grass-court tournament, an event that begins on June 14 that she was expected to compete in as a warm-up prior to Wimbledon.
“We have received notification Naomi Osaka cannot start in Berlin. After consulting her management, she will take a break,” Berlin event organizers said in a statement.
Last week, Osaka announced her decision to drop out of the French Open after organizers threatened to expel her from the tournament for refusing to speak to the media and hit her with a $15,000 fine.

Central African Republic Prime Minister resigns

 

 Firmin Ngrebada, Prime Minister of the Central African Republic on Thursday June 10 announced that his government had tendered its resignation. The development also comes amid a turbulent week in Bangui after the French military announced it was suspending military operations with Central African Republic.
 Ngrebada tweeted;
 “I have just handed over to His Excellency the President of the Republic His Excellency Pr Faustin Archange Touadera my resignation and that of the government.”
 Presidential spokesman, Albert Yaloke Mokpeme however told AFP that he may be asked to stay and form a new government.

In a sensational war of words with the Palace, Prince Harry hit back at a Palace source who claimed he and Meghan "never asked" Her Majesty about using her childhood nickname.
 After the name of Harry and Meghan's daughter was announced, it was said that Harry had spoken to his grandmother prior to naming their daughter and told her of plans to name her Lilibet.
 A Palace source told the BBC this was not the case - and the Queen was "never asked" about its use.
 Responding to the Palace source, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official spokesman said: "The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.

All six Premier League clubs who signed up to failed European Super League 'hit with fines of over £20m each

 

 
The Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ have reportedly been fined around £22million collectively for their roles in the failed European Super League. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Arsenal were the teams who signed up for the ill-fated breakaway  and any repeats of the concept in the future will be met with a £25m fine and a hefty 30-point deduction.
 It is also understood that the money will go towards grassroots football and the wider football community.
 Back in April, the Premier League Clubs backed out from the proposals amid a huge external backlash but Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are still in support of the idea, insisting football is facing an “inevitable downfall” without reform.
 The three clubs said they are within their rights to form a new competition and claim that UEFA and FIFA have no right to get in their way.
 The three European giants are facing disciplinary proceedings from FIFA over their plans to form the European Super League and are reportedly set to be banned from the Champions League competition.

Neymar has hit out at Nike for claiming he was dropped for 'refusing to cooperate' in an internal sexual assault investigation involving himself and an employee. The alleged incident reportedly occurred in 2016 when the Brazilian forward was in New York City for a marketing event with Nike.
Nike later announced they sacked the Brazilian winger last year over the incident.
The PSG star had a lucrative £78.6m sponsorship deal with Nike, which was due to run until 2022, but ended his partnership with the American brand last September before signing a money-spinning deal to become the new face of Puma.

Update on China marathon: Officials punished over runner deaths

 

 
Authorities in China have punished 27 government officials over the deaths of 21 ultra-marathon runners last month.  Athletes taking part in the 100km (60-mile) ultramarathon in Gansu province were hit by high winds and freezing rains.
According to state media, those who died had suffered from hypothermia.
In the wake of the incident, China announced it was suspending all high risk sports events lacking clear oversight, rules and safety standards.
A report into the race, released on Friday, said "non-standard and unprofessional event operations led to the accident".

 Former Arsenal, Juventus, and Wolfsburg forward Nicklas Bendtner has announced his retirement from football at the age of 33. The ex-Denmark international, who made 81 caps and scored 30 goals for his country over 12 years from 2006-2018, most recently played for Tarnby FF's 'M+32 Old Boys' team.'
 Bendtner enjoyed a spell at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger from 2005-2014, where he scored 45 goals in 171 appearances.  
  'I miss it every day, but I am also aware that there is an end date in this job. I think I'll spend a lot of time understanding that it's really over now,' Bendtner told Bendtner & Philine on Discovery +.

Stuttgart announce star player Silas Wamangitukais has been playing under false name and age

 

 VfB Stuttgart player,  Silas Wamangituka, who was recently voted Bundesliga's Rookie of the Season, has been playing under a false name and age this season, his club have announced. It was revealed today that the Congolese forward is actually named Silas Katompa Mvumpa and is 22 years old and not 21, as was previously understood.
 Stuttgart claimed that Silas was put under pressure by an agent-based in Paris to change his name in order to claim a European visa and earn a move to RSC Anderlecht.
The forward did not end up playing for the Belgian side but spent two seasons at French side Paris FC under the false name, before securing a move to Stuttgart at the start of the 2019-20 season and has impressed in Germany.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Alan Miller dies at 51

 

 Former Arsenal, Middlesbrough and West Brom goalkeeper, Alan Miller has tragically passed away at the age of 51. The news of his death was confirmed in report by Daily Mail. But the cause of his death is yet unknown.
 The Englishman joined the Gunners as a schoolboy in 1984 and signed as a professional with the club four years later.
 Miller made his Arsenal debut as a substitute against Leeds United at Elland Road, in so doing becoming the first Gunners goalkeeper to make an appearance as a substitute.
 He made five appearances for Arsenal in total, and was an unused substitute as the Gunners won the FA and League Cup double in 1993, as well as the European Cup Winners' Cup a year later.

 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed a baby girl. The baby was born on Friday, June 4, a spokesperson for the couple announced. The baby's name is a tribute to both Queen Elizabeth II and Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
