Divorced mother tattooed ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ on her chest before killing herself

The inquest into Ms Leaper's death was held at Oxford Coroner's Court (C)PA
Rebecca Leaper, 54, was found dead on a bed in her home by her ex-husband Richard Mason, who she had told in a text she was ‘feeling unwell’. Taped to the door of the room was a note written by Ms Leaper reading, ‘I should be dead. Do not let(their daughter) Saskia in,’ the Metro reports. An inquest at Oxford Coroner’s Court revealed on Wednesday that a paramedic at the scene had noticed a tattoo on Ms Leaper’s chest reading ‘Do Not Resuscitate.’
‘She had given me no indication that she wanted to end her own life but I was aware she was unhappy about her weight and her current unemployment,’ Mr Mason told the court.
Ms Leaper has asked her GP for a referral for surgery to help her lose weight. But two months after the referral she took her own life.
It was not made clear how or when the tattoo was inked on Ms Leaper’s chest.
A post-mortem found her lungs were congested. Consultant pathologist Professor Ian Roberts recorded the death of suicide as suffocation.
‘My conclusion is that it was her intention to commit suicide, and that is my finding,’ said Coroner Jeremy Chipperfield.
