A 6-carat diamond said to be worth about $300,000 was removed via colonoscopy from a Chinese woman who swallowed it in an alleged smuggling attempt in Bangkok, Thailand. Jiang Sulian, 30, was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing the diamond from the M.Tarun Diamonds Company during the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, while replacing it with a fake gemstone, the UPI reports.
Jiang was in the company of Hae Ying, 34 and they were both arrested and detained at the Suvarnabhumi airport after the police were alerted with evidence of CCTV images showing the pair visiting the exhibition stand where they allegedly switched the six-carat diamond with a fake, after asking to give it a closer inspection while at the jewellery fair. The pair tried to evade arrest by claiming they were tourists returning from their holidays, but their tale was proven to be fiction when a scan revealed the precious stone in Jiang's stomach.  Jiang was said to have confessed to the theft when the X-ray showed the stone in her large intestine. She was forced to take laxatives but the diamond stayed in place. She agreed to have a surgical operation to remove the gemstone from her intestine after being told that the jewel could cause a damage to her digestive system.
