Davis, from Boca Raton won his fortune playing numbers 16, 26, 29, 39, 45 and 46, which he claim to have found in a fortune cookie while visiting a restaurant in North Carolina, the Daily News reports.
"I checked and rechecked the ticket several times over the next few days," Davis said in a statement.
Officials said Davis had been playing the multi-state games with larger jackpots, but recently switched to the Florida Lotto because he thought it had better odds for winning, reported NBC Miami.
Davis chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $7,057,696.
