Pit bull shot dead during attack on homeless man

Victim being stretched off to the hospital
A homeless man was nearly mauled to death by a female pit-bull but was saved by an off-duty correctional officer, Anthony Dabis, who had to shoot the dog in the head. The incident which happened in Brooklyn saw the pit-bull sank its teeth into the victim and refuses to let go, witnesses said.
The 50-year-old officer said: ‘I tried to get him off the guy by pushing the dog and kicking him, but he wouldn’t let go.’

But after trying to fight the dog off for around a minute, Davis used his own 9mm pistol, which he was legally carrying, to put a bullet in the pit bull’s head. And even after being fatally shot, it took a while before the dog released its victim, the DailyMail reports.
The do is said to be owned by another homeless man and the victim, identified as Bemo was taken to New York Methodist Hospital for treatments. The man was said to have lost a lot of blood after suffering bites to his arms and legs.
