33-years later, man confesses to killing 13-year old neighbor by pushing her down the stairs

Jose Ferreira confessed to pushing Carrie down the stairs for not making out with him

Maybe it’s his conscience, or better still, maybe it’s the spirit hunting him ! Whatever the case is, Jose Ferreira, now 50 years, have been charged with the murder he committed 33 years ago. Jose was reported to have called a Milwaukee television news station and discussed details of a cold case involving a seventh-grade girl named Carrie Ann Jopek whose body was found more than 33-years ago. Police say he confessed to the death of 13-year-old Carrie, who went missing in 1982 and was discovered buried 17 months later, the DailyMail reports.
The case resurfaced last week when WISN 12 News reported that Ferreira called its newsroom and discussed the case, after which the station contacted the police.

'His story was very detailed - disturbingly so,' Chris Gegg, the station's news director, said in a statement to The Associated Press on Sunday
Gegg didn't elaborate about those details, but said the station called police because of 'several red flags'. Anchors also said that Ferreira told the station he had called a suicide hotline before the news team.
Ferreira was later arrested in the case , which had long been dormant. WISN reported that the suspect, 17 at the time of the incident, confessed to pushing Jopek down stairs after she said 'I don't know if this is a good idea' when he was taking her to the basement to make out.
An associate medical examiner told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in the 1980s that 'scuffle' likely occurred before the death.
She broke her neck, and Ferreira reportedly said that he had sex with her after thinking she was unconscious and then buried her when he realized she was dead.
'It's been 33 years since she's been gone,' the girl's mother, Carolyn Tousignant, said after Ferreira was taken into custody. 'I've been praying for this day.'
Jopek disappeared after she was suspended from school for roaming the halls. Tousignant said her daughter got kicked out on purpose so she could go to a house party.
Tousignant said the school called and gave her the option of picking the girl up from the office, but she chose not to because they lived only a block away. It's a decision she has come to live with.
