Colorado shooting spree, 4 dead including suspect

Four people are dead after a shooting spree in Colorado Springs, including the suspected shooter who died after a gun battle with police, authorities said. The Colorado Spring Police Department responded to a call of shots fired around 8:45 a.m. When police arrived on the scene, the suspect began shooting. The officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
Several streets in the downtown area have been blocked off as police investigate. Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence in front of a Wendy's. Police do not believe there is any further threat to the community. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine administrative leave. The sheriff's office has taken over the investigation, which is protocol when an officer-involved shooting occurs.
