Ownership of drones is on the increase as the devices become more affordable and is expected to rise even more in time for Christmas.
A couple have spoken of their outrage after discovering a drone outside their apartment window appearing to film them. Frank Lorenz and his wife spotted the high-tech peeping tom on Sunday as they made breakfast in their kitchen. The man told local news in Ozark, Missouri that he had just been wearing his boxer shorts and his wife was in a dressing gown.
Speaking of the moment he spotted the device, Lorenz said: "My wife kind of let out ’huhh,’ pointed, at it and went ‘what in the heck, and it went off and disappeared.’"
He added: “I don't like my privacy being invaded, and you wouldn't either, and if you have family you really wouldn't want it."
The estate agent is now calling for the devices to be regulated and the city attorney is in the process of drafting a new law. David Collignon, attorney for the City of Ozark explained that this was: "To attempt to satisfy the concerns of the citizenry, about their expectations of privacy, within their own home, versus the potential commercial or other uses of these pieces of equipment.”
An earlier draft proposing to make it illegal to fly a drone with 400 feet of someone's property was ruled out. On Monday the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) announced that unmanned aircraft will require registration.
...and that is why some have taken to shooting down any drone hovering around their home
