Two Louisiana prisoners are facing new charges behind bars for making a fake gun out of soap and toilet paper as part of a failed escape plan, police said Friday. Correction officers found the suds’ gun in a cell at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center Nov. 10 and traced it back to Troy Benner, an armed robbery convict, police said. The crafty convict created the gun out of bathroom materials available to all inmates, police said. Officers also learned Benner had a handcuff key he nabbed from a guard who unknowingly dropped it.

Investigator said Benner planned to use the key and faux firearm for a prison break with the help of fellow inmate Treiston Pierron, who was being held on an arson charge and several outstanding warrants. The soap dopes are likely to now face harder time. Benner, 49, was charged with attempted simple escape while Pierron, 32, was charged with assisting escape, WVUE reported.
