Paramedics are on the scene of a major accident on the R28 towards Vereeniging. ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing told News24 a minibus taxi and a truck are believed to have collided.
"ER24 paramedics are attending to patients on scene. It is understood that at least 15 people have died."
The minibus taxi caught alight. Passengers were also ejected. The injured, some in a critical condition, are being treated. Paramedics have since dispatched further resources to the scene, including a medical helicopter.
