Loyal dog refuses to leave side of friend killed by car

This heartbreaking image shows a loyal dog who refused to leave his fallen friend's side.
Animal volunteers are now trying to trace the owner of the Great Pyrenees, who was found guarding his fallen friend's body. The Great Pyrenees was found by Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery after his pal appeared to have been hit by a car. Local volunteers rushed to help the dogs after images of the pair were posted on Facebook. Workers at the SPIN rescue centre are trying to trace the owners of the dogs, as neither was microchipped.
It is not known if they were strays or pets that had gotten away from their owners. Julie Fennell, a volunteer with Dallas animal advocates 'No Bully Left Behind', went to the scene to help the dogs, the Dallas Morning News reported.

“He’s obviously being loyal to a friend who passed away and he’s mourning,” she told KXAS-TV.
“He was just kind of sitting guard like a statue, just sitting there watching over his friend’s body.
“It really looks like she was hit in the road.”
Fennell picked up the Great Pyrenees and took him to a Dallas Animal Services shelter.
He will be held for 72 hours to see if an owner comes forward to claim him.
