Notorious monkeys stones priest to death

Mr Mishra was stoned to death by monkeys in his neighborhood

Munna Mishra was said to be sweeping the porch of his home when a troop of monkeys began dropping stones onto him from the roof above. Severely injured, Mr Mishra was rushed to hospital by his family but died a short while later. Officials in India’s Mirchai Gali region said the “nuisance” monkeys had now killed three people and added that women and children had also been attacked by the creatures brandishing stones. Villagers in Patna said the animals are causing a lot of distress to families who are afraid of being assaulted by the creatures.
According to locals, the monkeys have also bitten people as well. Jeetendra Singh, a resident of Bhadra Ghat, said: “They not only snatch vegetable bags and other goods from the hands of people but also bite them,”
“Some school-going children have also become their target.”
Vikas Vaibhav, the local police superintendent, said he had directed forest department officials and the Patna Municipal Corporation to catch the monkeys and hand them over to the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park.
