Be careful! : Commuter dragged to death after his coat got trapped in Metro train doors
A man was killed when he was dragged along a platform to the next station by a Metro train in Paris after getting his coat trapped in the doors. The shocking incident happened at La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle station in the capital's 15th arrondissement along the line six route. It is believed the 24-year-old man had decided to leave the carriage just before the train was due to depart. However, as the doors closed, he managed to get his coat trapped. It was reported that he was dragged the full length of the platform. The driver wasn't alerted until he'd pulled into the next station, Dupleix.Despite power being cut and emergency services being scrambled, the man was declared dead at the scene.
The Local.fr reported: 'Metro trains in Paris are normally unable to depart a station if the doors are not properly closed.
'However sometimes jackets or straps of bags can be caught in the doors without a problem being signaled to the driver.'
And a spokesperson for Paris police confirmed to The Local that there had indeed been a fatality at La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle station, the DailyMail reports.
