Mum knits life-size model of son so she can always have 'him' to cuddle

Marieke Voorluijs says her son would rather hang out with friends and listen to his iPod than cuddle her these days - so she decided to take action. Marieke spent two months knitting the woolly replica, who sports a baseball cap, over-sized watch and has headphones around his neck. Just like a real boy, the model appears to be a fan of punk music (his sweater is a giveaway) and skateboarding - but he never refuses to cuddle. Textile designer Marieke, from the Netherlands, says she created the giant doll with the blessing of her two sons, both of whom lent a hand.
"We used to cuddle all the time, but those days are becoming scarce.
"Now he’d rather hang with friends, play with his phone and listen to his iPod."

Marieke, who knits other items for her brand, Club Geluk , says she missed the cuddles, so she came up with a way to meet her 'smother mother' needs. Her knitted 'son', who she says is modelled on both of her boys, shows the replica eating junk food , picking his nose, skateboarding and hanging out.
She said: The reactions during the process were so diverse from creepy to beautiful that we decided to make some photos in real life to place the weirdness in context.
"It was a fun art family art project !
"When it was finished we thought it would be a great idea for mothers with to much love for their children and need to cuddle.
"So they could knit there own cuddly son!"
