Zimbabweans trying to enter South Africa illegally mauled by hippo

Picture for illustration

Three Zimbabweans were killed and a child was critically injured by a hippopotamus near Beit Bridge in Musina South Africa while they were trying to enter the country illegally, Limpopo police’s Ronel Otto told The Herald in Zimbabwe.  It was reported that the dead were part of the group who were crossing into South Africa through an illegal entry point near the New Limpopo Bridge. An eight-year-old child was also critically injured in the hippo attack and was found early the next morning crying for help. It’s thought a large group of border jumpers had been trying to make their way to Musina and it’s not clear where the others are now.

  1. Hippos can be very dangerous, plus they move fast for their size
