Pics: Pepper eating contest in Lijiang, China

Some fun-seekers partook in a pepper-eating contest that was held in Lijiang, a tourist hotspot in southwest China’s Yunnan Province. They were apparently not afraid to engage in the fierce contest. According to reports, the competitors had two minutes to eat as many chillies as they could while sitting in giant urns filled with peppers. The championship went to a man surnamed Suo who ate 47 pieces. Suo seemed to have had an advantage over his rivals, as he came from Chengdu, the city known as “the hometown of spicy food”.
Can you take up the challenge?
