Nigeria church collapse kills many worshipers


Officials have opened an inquiry into how a church in the Nigerian city of Uyo collapsed during services Saturday, killing as many worshipers. The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed as news outlets have reported between 27 and 100 deaths at the Reigners Bible Church. The Akwa Ibom state governor, Emmanuel Udom, who was in the church as a special guest of honor, narrowly escaped death and was whisked away as the temporary structure of the church gave way.The bodies of the deceased worshipers have been deposited at the mortuary. The church's main structure is still under construction and reportedly has an estimated 10,000-seater capacity

  1. When pastors are competing to build the largest auditorium, the safety of the congregation should always be at heart. Those pillars look so fragile!
