Video: Police officer rescues toddler two hours after he was thrown into water reservoir by his mother

A mother threw her son into a reservoir after she no longer wanted to care for him.  A boy of Kenya, was thrown into the reservoir by his mother before a police officer rescued him alive. Brandon Gitahi had been thrown into the Chinga Dam in Othaya, by his mother. Fortunately, his jacket kept him afloat in the water for two hours. The police sergeant heard the boy crying and jumped into the water and swam 500 feet across the dam to rescue him.
Witnesses took video of the dramatic rescue, which showed Cheptoon and her colleagues taking the child out and laying him down on the grass. The child was crying and he seemed to be in distress, but otherwise unharmed.

The child was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated and cared for until a home is found for him. Police tracked down the mother and she has since been arrested.
