Photos which were uploaded to the Internet, show Valencia lying next to a plastic bag that was given to him by U.S. officials. The bag contained documents and food. Family members said that Valencia was a “widowed father who tried to support his three children.”
Olivas had served several stints in U.S. prison on a few occasions. In 2001, he was convicted for possession of a large amount of marijuana. Valencia was caught at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry near San Diego, with 128 pounds of marijuana concealed in his gas tank.
