Sutton goalkeeper Wayne Shaw may be in trouble for pie-eating betting stunt during FA cup match against Arsenal

The government's Gambling Commission have opened an investigation into Sutton United substitute goalkeeper Wayne Shaw's pie-eating stunt. Shaw, nicknamed the 'roly poly goalie', was caught on camera eating a pie during Monday night's televised game against Arsenal and has since admitted he was aware that a bookmakers were offering 8-1 on the event occurring. It now appears that Shaw and bookies Sun Bets could be in hot water with the Gambling Commission launching an investigation and the Football Association also considering action.

Gambling Commission enforcement and intelligence director Richard Watson said: 'Integrity in sport is not a joke and we have opened an investigation to establish exactly what happened.
'As part of that we'll be looking into any irregularity in the betting market and establishing whether the operator has met its licence requirement to conduct its business with integrity.'
The bookmaker claim to have paid out a five-figure sum to punters who had backed their 8-1 offer, publicised in print and online in the lead-up to Sutton-Arsenal game.
