Rapper arrested for insulting Tanzanian president in new song

Popular Tanzanian rapper Emmanuel Elibariki announced that he had been arrested for allegedly insulting the Tanzanian President, John Magufuli.
“It is true I am under arrest. Right now I am being taken to the police station,” Elibariki, known by his stage name Nay wa Mitego, wrote on his Instagram account.
Elibariki was arrested at a hotel in Morogoro, around 190km from Dar Es Salaam. Ulrich Matei, Morogoro police commander, confirmed to local media that the artist had been arrested for “releasing a song with words that malign the government.”
The rapper released a song last week, in which he addresses someone he calls “a doctor specialising in lancing boils” and says in Swahili, “Who are you now? Don’t you want to listen to advice? Don’t you want criticism?”
