Horny Rhino joins Tinder in a desperate attempt to seek mate and save threatened species

Flick through Tinder and you may come across Sudan's profile. He's 43, 6ft, originally from Kenya, loves the outdoors and travels widely. The catch? He's a RHINO .
Sudan is in fact the world's last male white northern rhino and desperately needs to mate.
His profile on the popular dating app reads: "I don't mean to be too forward, but the fate of my species literally depends on me.
"I perform well under pressure. I like to eat grass and chill in the mud. No problems. 6 ft tall and 5,000 pounds if it matters."
Conservationists are hoping that Sudan's appearance on the dating app will help them raise enough money for $9-million fertility treatment as all attempts at getting him to mate naturally have failed. Scientists hope to use Sudan's sperm to fertilise an egg from one of the two last northern white rhino females: 17-year-old Satu or 27-year-old Najin. The embryo will be implanted in a surrogate southern white rhino, a far more common species.

Experts advice against having an all-white kitchen!

When it comes to interior design, timeless white will never go out of fashion. And decking out a kitchen in the colour can make even the smallest cooking space seem large and inviting.  But experts have warned that all-white kitchens are surprisingly tricky to pull off - and not simply because they're tougher to keep clean.  Interior gurus point out that white-on-white kitchens also require a lot of maintenance - not to mention the fact it can make what should be the heart of your home appear cold and uninviting.  White is timeless, and is a great neutral choice for landlords and renovators who want to make sure the property appeals to the broadest spectrum of renters and buyers.  As living spaces are often painted in neutral tones, white is a good choice for an open-plan kitchen that you want to blend into the open lounge area. But experts including interior designer Rebecca Dupere say there are reasons why you might want to avoid going all-white with your cooking space.

Police called to reports of armed cat up in a tree

A worried member of the public alerted police to a cat sitting in a tree nestling a RIFLE in its paws. Officers in Newport, Oregon, reacted in style when they realised the picture they had been sent of the gangster kitty was simply an optical illusion. The cat's position, the colours, and the shape of the branch all conspired to make it look it was toting a weapon. Police told local news station KATU (obviously) that someone took the picture and then realised what it looked like. The post read: "Reports of an armed cat this morning were unfounded. The feline was contacted by our canine and was determined to be in possession of a non-lethal branch.

7 causes of insomnia

Those who regularly suffer from insomnia will know how debilitating this condition can be. It may be caused by the following seven things:

Emotional distress, especially from internalised anger or anxiety.

Overusing substances such as caffeine (in coffee, colas and some "energy drinks" like Red Bull), nicotine, certain medications and herbal remedies, and alcohol. Alcohol consumption may cause initial drowsiness, but this is usually followed by sudden wakefulness once the alcohol is metabolised. Paradoxically, insomnia may result from sedatives prescribed to relieve it. Some people, especially the elderly, develop an inverted sleep rhythm: drowsiness in the morning, sleep during the day and wakefulness at night.

Coke is adding fibre to its drinks to convince health-conscious people to buy more soda

Coke's flagship cola is being sold as a health drink of sorts in Japan, with a version that promises to deliver fibre. 'Coca-Cola Plus' has shipped in white bottles and is designed to go alongside meals. The no-calorie beverage contains five grams (0.2oz) of indigestible dextrin – a source of dietary fibre – per 470ml bottle. 'Drinking one Coca-Cola Plus per day with food will help suppress fat absorption and help moderate the levels of triglycerides in the blood after eating,' the company said in a press release.
It claims that the drink is a result of 'more than a decade of research and development'. The launch of Coca-Cola Plus was noted by the company in Japan during a call Tuesday, as well as Canada Dry Plus that has fibre. Coca-Cola Plus hit shelves in March, the company said, and is being marketed to the 40-and-over crowd. The company said this group is driving the growth of the country's 'food of specified health use' (FOSHU) products.
'Coca-Cola Plus is a sugar-free and calorie-free beverage with FOSHU functions,' said Dr David Machiels, product development director at Coca-Cola Asia Pacific.
'We hope people will drink it with meals.'

Indian to give cows ID cards

India plans to give 88 million cows 'identity cards' which can be tracked online. Now cows and buffaloes in India will be given 'animal health cards', similar to the Aadhar system already in place for Indian citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a plan to assign unique 12-digit identification numbers to 88 million cattle in India by the end of 2017. Yellow tags are being placed on the animals' ears by 100,000 technicians across the country in an effort to boost the income of the dairy sector by 2022. The card, held by the owner, will track activities and provide information to ensure cattle can be vaccinated on time, breeding cycles can be better monitored, and scientific intervention can be made resulting in better breeding and an increase in quality milk production. The tags are tamper-proof and designed to last for years. They weigh just 8 grams, to cause minimum inconvenience to the animals that are sacred for the Hindu community.

Ivanka & Merkel share warm handshake a month after her father awkwardly snubbed the Chancellor

During her first international trip as an official adviser to her father, Ivanka Trump was booed when she mentioned the president's name before sharing a warm handshake with Angela Merkel one month after he awkwardly snubbed the German Chancellor. President Donald Trump's eldest daughter spoke during the Women's 20 Summit in Berlin at the start of a jam-packed one-day tour after being 'directly invited' by Merkel last month. While Merkel visited the U.S. in March, the president seemingly ignored requests from the press to shake Merkel's hand while the pair were meeting in the Oval Office. He was heavily criticized for not doing so and mocked by many on social media. However, Ivanka did not follow in her father's footsteps and shared a friendly handshake with Merkel after participating in the panel discussion on women's entrepreneurship alongside Merkel, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland and IMF chief Christine Lagarde.

How murdered woman's Fitbit was used by cops to charge her husband

The attack, as Richard Dabate described it to police, was horrific. A masked intruder barged into his Connecticut home, he said, tied up and tortured him and -- when his wife came home -- shot and killed her. His story, however, would not hold up with investigators. And when cops ultimately charged him with murdering his wife, they relied on evidence gathered from an unlikely source: The Fitbit his wife was wearing.
The crime
It was December 23, 2015. Dabate told detectives he put his two kids on the bus that morning, waved goodbye to his wife, Connie, and left for work. Soon afterward, the wife headed for a fitness class at the local YMCA, with a Fitbit on her waistband. In his version of the incident, as outlined in a warrant obtained by CNN affiliate WTIC, Dabate said he went back home when he realized he'd forgotten his laptop. That was between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m., he told detectives. He heard a noise, he said, and went upstairs to investigate. That's where he spotted an intruder, he said: a 6'2" man with a stocky build wearing a "camouflaged suit with a mask."

Apple cuts App Store affiliate commission from 7% to 2.5%

Apple just sent an email to members of the App Store affiliate program saying that App Store commissions will be reduced from 7 percent to 2.5 percent on May 1st — that’s a 64 percent cut. While this change will have no effect on App Store users, it has some implications on the App Store ecosystem. Many websites from the Apple community link to App Store downloads with a unique referral ID in the link. When customers buy apps or in-app purchases using this link, Apple gives back a small cut to its affiliate partner. Developers still get 70 percent of the sale while partners get incentivized. For a $1 app, this affiliate commission is just a few cents. But it can add up if you’ve built a serious audience. And I know this because I’ve experienced this myself.
If Apple drastically cuts this revenue stream, the company could end up alienating people writing for those sites. But it could also indicate that some bigger App Store changes are coming soon.
