German paramedic fired for drawing a Hitler mustache on a migrant being taken to hospital

A German paramedic has been fired after drawing a Hitler mustache on a migrant who was being taken to hospital following a suspected drink and drugs overdose. The incident happened at Christmas but only came to light this week when medical assistant Thomas Wagner posted a video and photos in a WhatsApp group chat he set up for the Johanitter care group in Frankfurt. He sent a photo to his colleagues of a comatose man with the infamous facial hair drawn on in a blue biro alongside the caption: 'Victim#1 - today: trendy beards.'
A friend responded with a tasteless quip about the Nazi Holocaust writing: 'the Yolocaust', and another wrote: 'Oh, how peaceful it slumbers.'
On the video he uploaded, the patient is seen sprawled across the stretcher inside the ambulance. Wagner is not seen but can be heard saying: 'Are you coming into the hospital with us to get sober?'
His patient responds weakly: 'Yes.'
Then there is more laughter from the ambulance crew when one says: 'You're supposed to lie on the stretcher, not over it.'
Days later Wagner appeared to realise he was in the wrong and posted in the group chat: 'A few lines on the video I posted - it shows how not to do it.
'I pledge to do better.'
And a day later he pleaded with fellow users to erase everything he had posted, adding: 'I have to accept the consequences of my actions and will today hand in my notice.'
But his bosses beat him to it after seeing the conversation and sacked him.
Johanniter care group chief Oliver Pitsch said: 'We saw the photos and video and his employment was terminated immediately and instantly.'
Wagner's woes are not over as his bosses are mulling over filing a criminal complaint over his actions with local prosecutors for failing to properly care for a patient he was responsible for.
