Woman's gruesome mite infestation on eyelashes shows how important it is to wash your bedding

No judgement, but what's the longest you've ever gone without washing your bedding? Ten days? Two weeks? A month (shudder)?
Whatever your answer, just be aware that if you don't wash your bedding for five whole years, there will be repercussions.  One woman recently discovered the reason behind her blepharitis, which is an inflammation of the eyelids. According to The Sun , the cause of this inflammation was hundreds of mites - as many as 10 mites per lash follicle, which at first glance looked simply like dandruff.

These tiny interlopers had appeared because, apparently, the woman from Hubei, China, had not washed her pillow case for five years. The woman only found out she had this infestation after going to hospital because of her chronically red and itchy eyes.
Not because, well, she'd realised she had forgotten to wash her bedding in a long, long time. Happily for this lady, mites are easy to get rid of, just some antibiotic eye drops do the trick. And burning the bedding you've used for the last five years.
