A teenage girl was arrested for burning a boy with acid because she was in love with him but he refused to date her. According to police in Bangladesh, the girl and her mother were arrested over the incident. The incident occurred when 17-year-old Mahmudul Hasan Maruf of Dhaka was walking home after a night out with friends.
He was confronted by the 16-year-old girl who threw liquid into his face. Maruf suffered severe injuries as the skin from his face peeled off.
The girl confessed that she was in love with Maruf. She had stalked him for some time and she tried to get Maruf to agree to become her boyfriend but he repeatedly turned down her romantic advances. This upset the suspect and she decided to ruin his life by burning his face so that he cannot be with another woman.
Maruf suffered permanent injuries and he will need skin grafts.
