ABC cancels Roseanne's Show after racist tweet

ABC TV network has cancelled comedian Roseanne Barr's sitcom after she posted a racist tweet likening an African-American former Obama aide to an ape.
ABC said: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values and we have decided to cancel her show."

Barr's tweet said Valerie Jarrett was the child of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes film. The reboot of her hit '90s sitcom Roseanne has been a ratings hit. The comedian deleted Monday night's post and said she was leaving Twitter, but later posted a flurry of tweets including one that said she was "tired of being attacked & belittled".
Barr’s racist tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett to an ape came hours after she retweeted a string of tweets about Pizzagate, the baseless conspiracy theory about prominent Democrats being involved in a sex trafficking ring.

Barr, who is a staunch Trump supporter, also suggested in another tweet that Chelsea Clinton is part of a Jewish conspiracy, calling her "Chelsea Soros Clinton." (Clinton is married to a Jewish man who is not related to Soros.) Barr then took it even further by suggesting that Chelsea's mother, Hillary Clinton should commit suicide. After Roseanne's tweets, Comedian Wanda Sykes announced that she will not be returning as a producer for the show. ABC also announced in a statement released Tuesday afternoon that Roseanne's show, which is a reboot of her hit '90s sitcom Roseanne, will be canceled.
