Felicity Huffman and William H Macy’s 21-year marriage is under pressure after cheating scandal
They have always been held up as one of Hollywood’s enduring marriages but these days Felicity Huffman and William H Macy’s 21-year union is taking strain. According to insiders the couple are feeling the pressure from the college admissions cheating scandal, which saw Felicity getting arrested recently.
"The situation has been very trying on Felicity and William's marriage," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "They love each other but they've been arguing a lot."
The public shaming of the Desperate Housewives actress and her family has left Shameless star Macy "heartbroken", with a source telling Us Weekly, "He's been in tears."
Felicity (56) was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud on 12 March, after allegedly paying $15 000 (about R217 500) to a fake charity to improve the university entrance (SAT) results of her eldest daughter, Sofia.
William (69) hasn’t been charged with anything and it’s unclear if he was even aware of his wife’s wrongdoing.
Former Full House star Lori Loughlin (54) has also been implicated in the score-rigging scam. She and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli (55), are accused of paying $500 000 in bribes to get their two daughters onto the University of Southern California rowing team, even though the pair don’t participate in the sport, according to court documents released on Tuesday.
According to an insider the two women, who are expected in court later this month, didn’t expected things to come to this. "Neither actress knew this would become so serious," a source told Us Weekly further. "They haven’t fully grasped the extent of their alleged crimes or the possibility of prison time."
"The shame and humiliation are unfathomable for Felicity," a source said, adding, "This is Lori’s worst nightmare."
People reported last week that this scandal has been eye-opening to Lori especially. "Lori and her husband are finding out quickly who their real friends are," a source told the outlet.
"It’s not like they’re the victims of a crime. They are the crime. Many of their friends don’t want to be associated with them right now. Their friends are shocked at the allegations."
Lori’s career has already suffered. The Hallmark channel, to which she was linked for numerous upcoming projects, has dropped her and her daughter, YouTube personality Olivia Jade Giannulli, has also lost a lucrative advertisement deal with French beauty chain Sephora.
