Lucas Moura magic sends Spurs to first ever Champions League final after win over Ajax

Lucas Moura was the Tottenham hero on another night of Champions League drama as the Lillywhites reached the final for the first time in their history. Despite Ajax adding two more to their first leg lead, Mauricio Pochettino’s team staged a remarkable second half comeback to seal an away goals victory following a 3-3.
The result sets up an all-English clash in Madrid on June 1 following Liverpool’s win over Barcelona. Ajax, not content with their first leg advantage, fired an early warning when Dusan Tadic forced a fine save from Hugo Lloris.
Spurs were instantly punished from the resultant corner as Matthijs de Ligt leapt higher than the Tottenham defence to head past a static Lloris to give them the lead on the night. Tadic had the chance to extend the Ajax advantage on the half hour but his left-footed shot crept wide of the far post with Lloris beaten.
The Dutch side didn’t have to wait too long however as Hakim Ziyech made it 2-0 five minutes later, striking powerfully from just inside the area from Tadic’s clever pass.

Spurs knew they needed to change their approach and went more direct in the second half.
Tottenham finally found a breakthrough 10 minutes into the second half through Lucas Moura who slotted the ball past Onana after great work from Dele Alli.
Following Liverpool’s win over Barcelona the previous night, another unbelievable comeback was complete as Moura sealed his hat-trick with a 95th minute winner to write his name into the history books.
As the final whistle blew, Tottenham players and staff raced onto the pitch to celebrate the biggest victory in the club’s recent history.
A tearful Pochettino embraced his players and will take his team to Spain looking to land Europe’s biggest prize for the first time the club’s history.
