Manchester United complete Wan-Bissaka deal for reported £45M

Manchester United's summer of rejuvenation continued Saturday with the signing of promising right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace. Wan-Bissaka, 21, signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils with an option for a sixth. The deal is worth an initial £45 million, according to BBC Sport's David Ornstein, with a further £5 million payable in add-ons. That makes Wan-Bissaka the fifth-most expensive signing in United's long history.
Wan-Bissaka is expected to pull in £80,000 a week at Old Trafford - eight times as much as he was earning last season.
"He has the right work ethic, talent, and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further," manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the club website.
"Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that's important at his age. I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far."
The deal reportedly took several days to finalize because Palace insisted on a sell-on clause entitling the club to 10 percent of any fee over £50 million.
Wan-Bissaka made his senior debut in February 2018 and earned rave reviews as he became a permanent fixture in Roy Hodgson's lineup. Showing all the qualities of a modern full-back, the England U-21 international ranked second and third, respectively, in interceptions and tackles among Premier League players during the 2018-19 campaign.
He will now compete with Diogo Dalot as the rightful heir to former captain Antonio Valencia at the right-back position.
