About 100 people were arrested at Notting Hill Carnival after attacks on Police officers

Nearly 100 people have been arrested so far at this year's Notting Hill Carnival as police are given extra stop-and-search powers to reduce a recent surge in violence across London. Among the 97 people arrested there were 12 suspected of assaulting a police officer after 11 were injured on duty on Sunday.
Nine were detained on suspicion of having an offensive weapon and 41 for drug offences.
There were also three suspected s-xual offences, one robbery and one case of suspected criminal damage.
Police patrolling the event in west London have been given extra powers to stop and search carnival-goers after a surge in 'incidents of violence' in the capital in recent weeks.
