Olympic athlete Toledo dies in bike crash ahead of Tokyo 2020

Braian Toledo has tragically died after being involved in a bike crash in his native Argentina just months before the Olympic javelin thrower was due to compete at the Games in Tokyo. The 26-year-old was preparing to go for gold in Japan this summer but his hopes of bringing home a medal have sadly been dashed.
Toledo’s first Olympics came at London 2012 when he was just 18, and the rising star finished in 30th place. Four years later in Brazil, the South American came 10th as he stepped up his game for the Rio Olympics. Toledo had a huge future ahead of him in javelin, having won many medals at youth level.
