France's most tattooed man has said he was told not to teach nursery school children after a parent complained about his looks. Sylvain Helaine has tattoos on his body, face and tongue, and has had his eyeballs surgically inked black.
Mr Helaine, 35, still teaches primary school children aged six and older.
He said the child whose parent complained was not taught by him, and that his own pupils were "cool" with his appearance because they knew him.
"It's only when people see me from far away that they can assume the worst," he told Reuters news agency.
Serena Williams withdraws from French Open with Achilles injury
Serena Williams has pulled out of the French Open with an Achilles injury ahead of her scheduled second-round match against Tsvetana Pironkova. Williams, 39, was bidding to win a record-equaling 24th grand slam title at Roland Garros having reached the semifinals of the US Open earlier this month.

Australia asks Google to remove images from top of sacred site Uluru
Australia has asked Google to remove pictures on its Maps service taken from the top of Uluru, the sacred Aboriginal monolith that visitors were banned from climbing last year.
Google Maps currently hosts several user-uploaded images from the top of the site, taken before the ban came into place, as well as a Street View path recorded by a climber in 2018.
But Parks Australia, which looks after the country's natural treasures, has asked the tech giant to take down pictures uploaded by users after complaints from the Anangu Aboriginal people, Uluru's traditional owners.

The postponed Tokyo Olympic Games will go ahead next year "with or without Covid", the vice-president of the International Olympic Committee says. John Coates confirmed to news agency AFP that the Olympics would start on 23 July next year, calling them the "Games that conquered Covid".
They were originally scheduled to start in July 2020, but were postponed due to Covid-19 fears.

Togo's Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou and his government have resigned in a political reshuffle delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic. The resignation came after President Faure Gnassingbe won his re-election in March, extending his 15-year-old rule and a family dynasty that began when his father took power in a 1967 coup.
Komi Selom Klassou has served as prime minister since 2015. Commenting on the resignation of the prime minister, Gnassingbe congratulated Klassou and his team for their "economic, political and social efforts and the encouraging results despite the health crisis around the world."
The presidency did not say when a new prime minister would be appointed.

Croydon police officer shot dead named as Sgt Matt Ratana
A long-serving police officer shot dead in a custody centre in south London has been named as Sgt Matiu Ratana aged 54. New Zealand-born Sgt Ratana, known as Matt, was two months from retiring when he was shot in the chest in Croydon.
Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick described him as "a big guy" who was "big in heart".
After the shooting, at about 02:15 BST, the suspect, 23, is thought to have turned the firearm on himself. He is in a critical condition in hospital. Ms Dick said Sgt Ratana had been well known locally and beyond.

An estimated 380 whales die from stranding in Australia
At least 380 pilot whales have died off the coast of Tasmania in what experts are calling Australia's largest recorded mass-stranding event. Nearly 500 whales have been stranded on a beach and two sandbars along the western coast of the island state.
Initial reports on Monday said that 270 whales, some of which had already died, were stranded at three sites. Then authorities surveying the area by helicopter on Wednesday discovered another 200 that were stranded about 6 miles to the south — but all of those animals were confirmed dead.

The woman was rushed to a Bareilly hospital in a serious condition, but doctors were able to save her life.
However, the woman who was six to seven months pregnant before the attack later gave birth to a stillborn son, the BBC reports.

Relic of Pope John Paul II's blood stolen from Italian cathedral
A GOLD and crystal casing holding drops of the blood of Saint Pope John Paul II was stolen from the cathedral of the central Italian city of Spoleto, its bishop said on Thursday. The casing, known as a reliquary, was snatched on Wednesday from an altar dedicated to the Polish pope, who died in 2005 after a 27-year reign.
A sacristan who was closing the cathedral for the night discovered the theft of the reliquary, which encased a vial holding a few drops of blood.

A family's pet dog mauled a newborn baby to death while his mother was in the toilet and his father was in the garden with another child, a coroner heard. Elon Jase Ellis-Joynes was 12 days old when his family's Chow Chow-cross is believed to have bitten him on September 13, 2020.
The child, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was still alive when mum Abigail Ellis frantically called for an ambulance, but died at the hospital.
Doncaster Coroner's Court heard Elon was "bleeding from his leg or his stomach".

A schoolgirl has died after allegedly being beaten by her teacher for failing to answer two maths questions correctly. The 10-year-old girl, identified by her surname Zhang, was a student at a primary school in the city of Guangyuan, central China.
According to the Xinhua News Agency, the teacher, identified by the surname Wang, beat the girl on September 10.

Barbados to remove Queen as head of state in 2021
Barbados will remove the Queen as its head of state and become a republic next year, it has announced, as its governor-general says: “The time has come to fully leave our colonial past behind.”
The country, one of 16 remaining realms which has the Queen as its head, will seek a new head of state by November 2021, in a move which could see other Caribbean countries follow suit.
Buckingham Palace said the decision was a “matter for the government and people of Barbados”.
The decision to remove the Queen as head of state has been “mooted for quite some time”, a source said, and did not come as a surprise to Her Majesty or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

A man traveled 400 miles on a Greyhound bus with suitcases filled with a woman's dismembered body, police say. The dismembered body parts were found by the man's family after they noticed a "foul smell" coming from the three heavy bags.
He had reportedly travelled from Kentucky to Markham, Illinois, before the remains were discovered on Tuesday September 15, CBS 2 reported.

Hollywood actress, Halle Berry has revealed that her 2002 Oscar win was one of 'her biggest heartbreaks'. Halle Berry made history in 2002 when she became the first African American to win the best actress Oscar for her role in "Monster's Ball."
But according to her she expected other African American women to have won the Oscar Awards since she won it, due to the array of talent possessed by African American women.
In a recent interview with Variety, Berry talked about the fact that Hollywood didn't exactly come beating down her door after her triumph -- especially in the wake of her starring role in 2004's "Catwoman" which bombed.

A convicted US killer already serving two life sentences has asked a judge to give him the death penalty or he will kill again after stabbing a fellow inmate to death in an Indiana prison. Tommy P. Holland, 45, of Indianapolis was charged with murder for stabbing Clifford Baggett, 28, to death at the Pendleton Correctional Facility on August 9, 2019.
Holland, who is behind bars for the 2015 slayings of employees at a Mars Hill supermarket and a Marathon gas station, allegedly stabbed Baggett 10 times including in the arm, chest, and buttocks in the attack.

Villa sign Lyon forward Traore
Aston Villa signed Burkina Faso forward Bertrand Traore from Lyon for a reported £17 million ($21 million) on Saturday. Traore returns to the Premier League after starting his career with Chelsea, where he spent three years with Villa’s current assistant manager John Terry.
The 25-year-old’s signing is another boost to Villa’s attacking options after the arrival of Ollie Watkins from Brentford for a club-record £28 million earlier this month.
“We’re delighted that Bertrand has chosen to come to Villa,” manager Dean Smith told his club’s website.
“He’s a player with immense talent who will really enhance our attacking options.”
Villa, who escaped relegation on the final day of last season, have also recently signed Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Nottingham Forest right-back Matty Cash.
Smith’s side kicks off their Premier League campaign at home to Sheffield United on Monday.

Protests erupt in South Africa over controversial TRESemmé ad featuring Black hair
Two advertisements, one showing a black woman's hair labeling it "frizzy and dull," the other showing blonde hair, labeling it, "fine and flat" and "normal" set off protests at one of South Africa's largest retail pharmacies.
The content and images of the advert were provided to retailer Clicks by one of their suppliers, TRESemmé -- an American brand of hair care products, according to the company's Group CEO, Vikesh Ramsunder.
The company issued an apology in a statement released Monday and said it had removed the images, "which go against everything we believe in," adding that it does not "condone racism."
He added that all employees involved in publishing the offensive advertisement have been suspended.

The awards will recognise the top performers in each at the 2019-20 Champions League campaign, and both Messi and Ronaldo missed out on the final shortlist due to their devastating Champions League campaign.
It is the first time the Barcelona and Juventus superstars failed to make the final shortlist for their position.
Champions League champions, Bayern Munich dominated the 12-man list with seven players nominated across the four categories.
Kanye West's Twitter account temporarily suspended
On Wednesday, Kanye, 43, took to Twitter and uploaded a tweet which included the phone number of a Forbes journalist. The social media platform deems the sharing of people’s personal details as a breach of the site’s rules, it is seen as a violation of a person’s privacy.
It is also reported by NBC that Kanye called urged his fans to call the reporter alongside the screenshot of his phone number.
According to the Mirror, a Twitter spokesperson confirmed that the tweet was in violation of the rule but did not elaborate.
Kanye’s friend former NBA player Rick Fox revealed that the Stronger hitmaker was banned from posting on the site on his own Twitter feed.
