Frank de Boer named new coach of Netherlands after Ronald Koeman joined Barcelona

Former Ajax coach, Frank de Boer has been appointed as the new Netherlands head coach, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed on Wednesday night, September 23. His appointment comes after Ronald Koeman left his Netherlands post last month to take over at Barcelona .
De Boer, who made 112 Netherlands appearances and played at two World Cups for his country, has signed a two-year deal.
De Boer, 50, led Ajax to four straight Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014 but his 85-days as coach of Inter was a failure.
He then joined Crystal palace but stayed for 10 weeks after Palace lost their first four Premier League games of the season, failing to score a single goal in the process.
De Boer will be thrust quickly into his new job with a friendly against Mexico and two Nations League games early next month. The Netherlands host the Mexicans in Amsterdam on October 7 before travelling to Bosnia on October 11 and Italy on October 14.
