Premier League club, Tottenham have completed the £15million signing of Italy-born Nigerian defender, Destiny Udogie from Udinese but have been immediately loaned back to his old club.
The 19-year-old left-back agreed to a five-year contract that would see him be a Spurs player until 2027 but will first, spend the 2022/23 season on a season-long loan with Udinese.
The youngster signed the deal after flying into England at the weekend. We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Destiny Udogie from Udinese. The defender has agreed a deal that will run until 2027 and will return to the Serie A side on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.' Tottenham announced on Twitter.
He is Tottenham's seventh signing of the summer but the left-back has returned to Italy in a similar fashion to Pape Matar Sarr, who joined Spurs last August but spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan with Metz.
Speaking about his signing, Udogie called it "a big dream come true" and "a big honour" to be at the London club with a big history.
Last season, Udogie scored five goals and made four assists in 35 league appearances for Udinese, and featured in an additional two games in the Italian Cup for the Friulani.
Udogie is eligible to represent Italy or Nigeria as he was born in Italy and is of Nigerian descent.
