Grandmother jailed for trying to smuggle drugs hidden in bag of Doritos into prison for her grandson

Grandmothers like to spoil their grandkids by giving them lots of goodies. One grandmother brought a bag of Doritos when she arrived to jail to visit her grandson in prison. The bag of chips did not attract attention but when 68-year-old Sarah Griffin of Tennessee opened the bag of chips and handed the contents over to her grandson, she was arrested. According to police, Griffin went to visit her 31-year-old grandson, Cody Clements, at the Shelby County Division of Corrections in Memphis on Saturday afternoon.
During the visit, she took out the bag of Doritos and removed something from among the chips. She then handed the item over to Clements who was sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of aggravated burglary. The guards noticed the exchange and confiscated the bag, which police said had 28.5 grams of methamphetamines, 1.1 gram of heroin, 11.4 grams of marijuana, and 40 prescription Xanax pills.
The drugs were reportedly wrapped in black electrical tape. When police questioned her, Griffin said that she thought she was giving her grandson a cellphone. Police said that the amount of drugs they found suggests that Clements wanted to sell the drugs to other inmates. Griffin was arrested and is facing charges of bringing contraband into prison.
