Man charged with stealing car arrives in court with another stolen car

A man who was facing justice for stealing a car was busted when he arrived to court in another stolen vehicle. According to the police in Connecticut, the man, who was supposed to be in court over the theft of a car, apparently stole another vehicle to attend his court hearing. Court records show that 25-year-old Jonathan Rivera was at the Hartford Superior Court on Wednesday to answer a charge first-degree larceny and tampering with a motor vehicle involving the theft of a car.
While waiting to appear before a judge, agents from the Hartford Parking Authority were scanning license plates of cars that were illegally parked outside of the courthouse. They came across a White Subaru Legacy that had license plates that have been reported stolen.
The license plates did not match the car and they soon learned that the car itself had been reported stolen from Newington after its owner accidentally left the key ring in the door, police said. The Hartford Parking Authority called the police. Officer waited in the area and watched the car until the driver came outside.
When Rivera came out of the courthouse and got into the stolen vehicle, he was arrested.
