A man was left humiliated after he was caught on camera attempting to have sex with a young teenager. 60-year-old Charles Lawrence III, of New York, was arrested after setting up a meeting with a 13-year-old to have sex. Lawrence met the boy on the dating site Grindr. The two exchange sexually explicit messages, and Lawrence told the boy that he can be his sex teacher, according to police. When Lawrence, who works as an accountant and real-estate agent, set up a time to meet with the boy, he was confronted by undercover agents and by cameras.
Attorney John Smriga said that the undercover operation to catch Lawrence and other predators was a joint venture between his office, Fairfield police and former “To Catch a Predator” host Chris Hansen. Lawrence was lured to a decoy house that was rigged with cameras for an episode of Hansen’s new show, “Hansen vs. Predator.”

Statistics show cancer cases in UK children up by 40% in 16 years

Fast food diets and lack of exercise could be responsible for a rise in cancer cases in young adults, scientists have warned. Alasdair Philips, science adviser at Children with Cancer UK, says there seems to be "a correlation between the lifestyle of young people" and a significant increase in the number of teenagers being diagnosed.
"They tend to be doing a lot less exercise and there's also a lot of fast food being eaten, which is fine in moderation, but we know they do contain cancer giving substances," he said.
"So if you eat well-cooked meat and burgers and it goes into your colon and hangs around because you're not doing much exercise, it's more likely to cause damage. I think that's part of the issue."

Mother orders birthday cake replica of daughter vomiting in the toilet

A mother came up with a unique way to show her disapproval of her daughter’s drinking. 
18-year-old girl Abbi Price of Coventry, England, received a birthday cake, showing her vomiting into a toilet. Price said that her mother came up with the idea and ordered the three tier cake. The bottom two tiers were decorated with black icing and purple flowers. The cake topper was an exact replica of a photo that was taken of Price, vomiting into the toilet during a party.
The cake decorator made a replica of the scene. Price, who is a fun loving teenager, really liked the cake and she published the photos to social media, where it was shared more than 17,000 times. Abbi said that her mother came up with the design for her birthday cake as a way “to put her off from more binge drinking sessions.”

At least two killed and many injured in Tel Aviv building collapse

At least two people were killed and dozens were injured after a structure collapsed at a Tel Aviv building site on Monday, Israeli officials said. An unknown number of people were trapped in the rubble several hours after the incident in the Ramat Hachayal neighborhood, with military search-and-rescue teams called in to assist extrication efforts. Israel's police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said around 30 people had been injured in the collapse. Later, the Magen David Adom ambulance service confirmed two people had died.

China’s world’s longest glass bridge closes within two weeks of opening due to visitor surge

The world's longest glass bridge has closed within two weeks of opening after being overwhelmed by the number of visitors. More than 10,000 people flocked to the bridge in China's Hunan province every day, overwhelming managers who had planned to limit visitors to no more than 8,000, local media said. The bridge is undergoing "an internal system upgrade", the Xinhua News service quoted officials as saying. It is not clear when the bridge will reopen.
The group that runs the attraction said it would use the closure to update "software and hardware" related to managing visitors, Xinhua added in its report. In an announcement on one of its social media accounts, the company apologised for inconveniencing the many travellers who had made bookings. The bridge, which is 430 metres (1,400ft) long and suspended 300 metres above the ground, spans the canyon between two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie park.

Stepfather breaks nose of bride's mother at wedding because bride refused to let him walk her down the aisle

A bride’s big day was ruined when her mother was taken to a hospital with a broken nose.
51-year-old Ernest Hames of England, was at the wedding of the daughter of his partner of 21 years. Since he was a big part of the bride's life, he expected to walk her down the aisle.
However, the bride, who had been preparing her wedding for two years, had other plans. She asked her biological father to walk her down the aisle. The Hull Crown Court heard that Hames had been drinking at the Lazaat hotel before turning on the mother of the bride. Hames became angry after his stepdaughter asked her biological father to walk down the aisle instead of him.
When the woman saw her boyfriend getting into a drunken rage, she went to her hotel room. He soon followed her. He then punched her in the face with force, causing her nose to bleed.
The woman was taken to the Hull Royal Infirmary, where it was revealed that she had a fractured nose along with various cuts and bruises Hames pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and he was sentenced to 12 months in prison. His attorney, Catherine Kioko-Gilligan, said that the defendant wished to “express his utmost remorse.”

Man rapes 11-month-old baby in Delhi

An 11-month-old baby was allegedly abducted and raped by her neighbour in Delhi on Friday night. The baby, from Vikaspuri, had been sleeping with her mother at a make-shift shelter in a police housing complex when she was taken to a nearby jungle and raped around 10pm, police say. Her mother only realised she was missing around 11pm and informed police.
When Vikaspuri officers finally arrived at the scene, they found the 11-month-old in an unconscious state and immediately took her to the intensive care unit at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. A senior officer said: ‘The girl was bleeding profusely. Doctors at the hospital have said that her condition is serious.

Mother Teresa declared a saint at canonisation mass in the Vatican

Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who devoted her life to helping India's poor, has been declared a saint in a canonization Mass held by Pope Francis in the Vatican. Pope Francis delivered the formula for the canonization of the Albanian-born nun -- known as the "saint of the gutters" -- before huge crowds of pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City on Sunday morning. Applause broke out before he completed the formula of canonization, in which he declared "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint."
Speaking in Latin, Francis said that "after due deliberation and frequent prayer for divine assistance, and having sought the counsel of many of our brother bishops, we declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint, and we enroll her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole church."

Dad burns daughter’s face with hot iron because she spilled feces of her potty on the floor

A young girl was left with horrific burns after her father beat her with a hot iron.  Police in Nigeria, arrested the father after he burned his daughter on the face and private parts. Lagos police arrested 45-year-old Surakat Idowu, after learning that he burned his five-year-old daughter with the hot iron when he became angry with her. Idowu had custody of his 5-year-old daughter since he separated from his wife two years ago. The father, who works as a mechanic, allegedly tortured the girl because he asked her to dispose the feces of her potty into the toilet, but the child accidentally spilled it on the floor.
The father became angry, grabbed the hot iron and burned the child's face, eye and private parts as punishment.  A neighbor who heard the child screaming, came to her aid and witnessed the incident. Police were called and the father was arrested while the child was taken to a hospital.  The child, who is in nursery, suffered severe injuries and doctors are not sure if she will regain vision in her left eye. The child is being treated at a hospital and was placed in protective custody

Dilma Rousseff appeals to Brazil Supreme Court to overturn impeachment

Brazil's ousted President Dilma Rousseff has appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn the Senate's decision to remove her from office for breaking budgetary rules. The Senate voted 61-20 on Wednesday to dismiss the leftist leader, confirming her conservative Vice President Michel Temer as president for the remainder of her term through 2018. Ms Rousseff's lawyer, Jose Eduardo Cardozo, sought the injunction on grounds that lawyers for her accusers had made changes to their case that violated the rightA to due process, after they argued the president should also be judged for an economic crisis and sprawling corruption scandal in Brazil.
In the unlikely event the Supreme Court approved an injunction, Mr Temer would return to being interim president while the Senate trial was repeated. So far, all requests made by Ms Rousseff's defence on the merits of the impeachment process against her have been rejected by the Supreme Court, whose Chief Justice Ricardo Lewandowski presided over her impeachment trial.

Facebook's first satellite worth $200m destroyed in SpaceX test rocket explosion

The space exploration and technologies firm confirmed that Amos-6, part of Mark Zuckerberg's future vision for the internet, was completely decimated. A launch was scheduled on Saturday at 1.33PM GMT to deliver the satellite into orbit to help bring the internet to Saharan Africa. But the SpaceX rocket carrying it burst into flames on a test run shortly before 9am today. Last year an excited Zuckerberg revealed his intentions on delivering the internet from space.
He wrote: "As part of our collaboration with Eutelsat, a new satellite called AMOS-6 is going to provide internet coverage to large parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Michel Temer sworn in as new president of Brazil

Michel Temer, Brazil's former vice president, has been sworn in as the country's new president, a few hours after the country's Senate voted to remove Dilma Rousseff from office. Temer, 75, raised his hand and swore to uphold the constitution, drawing loud applause from his conservative supporters at Wednesday's ceremony in a packed Senate chamber. He is expected to stay in power until the next scheduled election in late 2018. Temer promised a "new era" of government for Brazil.
Earlier on Wednesday, 61 of 81 senators voted to impeach suspended president Rousseff, after a five-day trial and a lengthy overnight debate.

Kim Jong-un executes education minister for not sitting properly during meeting

Kim Jong-un has executed a senior North Korean official by firing squad because he did not sit properly during a meeting. Education minister Kim Yong-Jin, 63, was shot dead after his 'bad sitting posture' in parliament incurred the wrath of the North Korean dictator. The slouching vice premier was interrogated and found to be an 'anti-revolutionary agitator' before his execution in July, a South Korean official said.
Vice premier for education Kim Yong-Jin was executed,' South Korea's unification ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-hee said.
'Kim Yong-Jin was denounced for his bad sitting posture when he was sitting below the rostrum,' he added, referring to North Korea's parliament.

Gao Zhiyu has been out of school for four years after being hit by a car during the summer break, reports the People's Daily Online. His father made Gao 'new legs' from wood allowing him to rejoin his class today in Jimo City, eastern China. The 11-year-old student began a new year at Chengnan Elementary School in Jimo City, China's Shandong province . Gao lost his legs in a car accident during the summer break in 2012.
During his long stay in hospital, he kept up with work, using his spare time to study. According to the school, Gao's hard work means he now ranks in the top 5 percent of his class. People have been discussing the boy's story on social media site Weibo with people saying that Gao is inspirational. While others shared their concern over the boy's legs.

Mob serves justice to man who was caught molesting a 2-year-old girl

28-year-old fashion designer, identified only as Ituah, has been beaten up by a mob on Mosaku Street, in the Oshodi area of Lagos State, Nigeria for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl. Punch correspondent gathered that Ituah, who was later dragged to the Akinpelu Police Division, was caught by a neighbour while allegedly raping the victim. The neighbour reportedly alerted the girl’s mother.
Punch correspondent gathered that the girl’s mother, identified simply as Mrs. Ajibade, had gone to the toilet to urinate and left the girl in the corridor. The victim was said to have gone to play with Ituah, who has a shop in front of the victim’s house, when the suspect allegedly raped her. A neighbour reportedly caught the fashion designer and raised the alarm, which attracted a mob. The mob reportedly beat up the suspect before dragging him to the police station. Speaking with Punch Metro, the victim’s mother, Ajibade, a trader, said she left the girl in the corridor so that she would not play with electric appliances in the sitting room.

10-year-old girl had her 'turtle shell' mole removed by doctors

Doctors at Ho Chi Minh City’s Children’s Hospital, Vietnam has successfully removed the turtle-shell-like mole from the back of a 10-year old girl after a 3-hour surgery on Monday, August 29. The hospital’s vice director, Dao Trung Hieu, said the girl, Tran Thi Ngoc Tham of Soc Trang province, who suffers from congenital melanocytic nevus has recovered after the surgery. He said the mole weighs 1.05 kg and measures 22 cm in diameter. After its removal, doctors covered the area with skin grafted from the girl’s thigh. Six doctors and five medical workers were involved in the surgery.

Female alligator hunter catches record-breaking 13ft-long reptile in Mississippi river

A female hunter has caught a record-breaking 13ft alligator in a Mississippi river. Tiffany Wienke had only been hunting the animals twice before she snared the beast, which weighed a huge 311kg (49st), on Saturday night. She was with a party of six, who had been searching the waters for 20 hours, when they ran into the 13 feet and 7/8 inch-long alligator at Bayou Pierre. The creature is just one-eighth of an inch longer than the previous record.
Tiffany told MS News Now : "He ran us - literally crashed us into some trees, and bank-to-bank.
"He was pulling this boat full of people like it was nothing."
She said that to get the alligator in the boat its head had to be curled up in one corner with its tail reaching all the way up to the other side and resting up on the opposite deck.

Cameroonian football player fired by Egyptian club for testing HIV positive

Cameroonian football player Samuel Nlend has been sacked by a top Egyptian football club after tests revealed he was HIV positive. Egyptian Premier League side Al Ittihad sacked the 21-year-old just four days after signing a three year contract with him.
Egyptian news outlet KingFut.com reported that a media representative of the club confirmed the news to the press. Nlend is regarded as one of Cameroon's brightest soccer prospects. He scored in January's Africa Cup of Nations tournament. He also finished the last Cameroonian soccer league as the top scorer with his former club, Union Douala.

How much can you spend to satisfy your pets? A barmy dog lover has shelled out more than £4,000 on a birthday party for her dogs. Mutt-mad Helen Turner, from Burnley, Lancs, splashed the cash on her precious pooches to celebrate their joint first birthday.
Mollycoddled mutts Salvador and Purdy were treated to a no-expense-spared bash - complete with a clown, face painting,  and three doggy birthday cakes. The Chihuahuas were joined by their three doggy siblings and other pooch pals to celebrate the special occasion - that cost nearly 10 times as much as the average children’s birthday party. The extravagant shindig makes up just a fraction of the staggering £24,000 a year Helen already splashes out on her EIGHT pampered pooches.

Watch as hawk drops live snake on family’s barbecue

A family barbecue was rudely interrupted by an uninvited guest with a very unwanted gift – a hawk carrying a snake. The terrifying footage shows the giant bird of prey winging its way towards the party from across a lake. As it gets closer, it becomes clear its carrying a huge reptile in its talons. As it swoops just over the heads of the startled family, it drops the live snake right into their midst. The panicking picnickers can be heard shouting at each other in Chinese, as the green-coloured reptile slithers towards them.
The video was filmed on Friday by Douglas Wong as he enjoyed a family lunch on the River Yarra, in Melbourne. He posted the clip on YouTube.
