Severe drought in India leads to rise in violence

A severe draught in a remote region in India has led to a sharp increase in violence - and even murder. As northern and central India continues to suffer thorough severe drought and oppressive heat, police in Bundelkhand and several other regions are reporting a rise in violent - and often deadly - clashes over water. After almost 10 years of below-average rainfall and several consecutive years of drought, the region's rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wells are drying up.
Disputes are a common problem in many places in India that face water shortages and Indian police report that the fighting is getting more frequent and bloody. In many parts of the country, neighbours, friends and family are turning on each other, desperate to protect what little water they have left, police records suggest.

What love! Man marries his smartphone

                                                                  (C)Youtube
Last month, artist Aaron Chervenak drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Nevada to finally take the love for his smartphone to the next level by marrying it at a small wedding chapel. And yeah, in case you’re wondering, he even put a ring on it. A study conducted by internet security giant Kaspersky found that a quarter of people ranked their smartphone as more or equally important to them as their parents. For a lot of us, it’s the last thing we interact with before going to sleep and the first thing we check when we wake up. It’s with us pretty much 24/7, and we connect with it on so many levels. “We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our mind, and to me that’s also what a relationship is about,” Aaron Chervenak said. So in a sense, my smartphone has been my longest relationship. That’s why I decided to see what it was like to actually marry a phone.”

Reasons why you should always wash new clothes before wearing them

For most of us, wearing a new purchase while it's still shop-fresh is a big part of the thrill of buying it in the first place. However, according to one textile expert, not washing clothes after you've bought them leaves us wide open to both other people's germs and a whole host of chemicals. Clothing manufacturing expert, Lana Hogue, warns that not putting new clothes through the washing machine straight after you've bought them puts your skin a little too close to the harsh factory processes that items often undergo before they reach retailers.
Hogue explained to Elle.com that the dyes used to colour our clothes are particularly skin unfriendly.
'You should absolutely wash clothes before you wear them. Especially anything that is right next to the skin or that you will sweat on.

36 dead, 147 injured in Istanbul airport attack

Three suicide bombers opened fire then blew themselves up in Istanbul's main international airport on Tuesday, killing 36 people and wounding close to 150 in what Turkey's prime minister said appeared to have been an attack by Islamic State militants. One attacker opened fire in the departures hall with an automatic rifle, sending passengers diving for cover and trying to flee, before all three blew themselves up in or around the arrivals hall a floor below, witnesses and officials said. The attack on Europe's third-busiest airport was one of the deadliest in a series of suicide bombings in Turkey, which is part of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State and is struggling to contain the spillover from neighboring Syria's civil war. It is also battling an insurgency by Kurdish militants in its largely Kurdish southeast.

Study shows smoking cannabis during pregnancy 'impairs memory, decision-making and personality' of the baby

Pregnant women who smoke cannabis risk causing damage to their unborn baby's brain, experts have warned. The drug is linked to abnormal brain structure in children, a new study has revealed. Those children exposed to marijuana in the womb were found to have a thicker prefrontal cortex region of the brain, when compared to children not exposed to the drug. The prefrontal cortex is a region of the brain that is linked to decision-making, memory and personality.
The study's author, Dr Hanan El Marroun, of the Erasmus University Medical Center in The Netherlands, said: 'This study is important because cannabis use during pregnancy is relatively common and we know very little about the potential consequences of cannabis exposure during pregnancy and brain development later in life.'

Demand for abortion increases in Latin America as Zika bites hard

Fears over complications relating to the Zika virus are driving more pregnant women in Latin America to seek abortions, new research suggests. In many of these countries, abortion is either illegal or highly restricted, leaving pregnant women with few options and potentially driving them to use unsafe methods, experts today warned.
Many are seeking to access abortion drugs without medical supervision, while others are being driven to visit underground providers, the study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine notes.
In November last year, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) issued an alert about the Zika virus in Latin America. In February, such was the international concern, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak sweeping through South and Central America a public health emergency of international concern. Although the virus, spread by mosquitoes, causes only mild symptoms, it can have serious complications particularly for unborn babies.

The advice does note that most people who become infected with the virus do not show any symptoms.
'Only one in five people who get it will feel sick, usually for a few days.
'In some cases, Zika infection can cause fever, rash, severe headache, joint pain, and muscle or bone pain.
'Illness from Zika is usually not severe and does not require hospitalization.

South African Pastor, Penuel Mnguni of the End Time Disciples Ministries is making fame by asking members to do unbelievable things. He made headlines last year when he made his church members eat grass, drink fuel, swallow a live snake during a deliverance service. Recently,  Penuel claims he commanded a woman (pictured) to turn into white horse and it happened as he commanded.
The latest act shared via his Church’s Facebook page is when the pastor  went to a Mango tree and declared it to be KFC Pizza and spaghetti.  After the declaration, he commanded his members to eat from the tree as declared. Three of his members after eating the mango leaves, confirmed that what they ate is KFC, the other said it was Pizza and the last one said that it was spaghetti.

Pics: 87-year-old grandma goes skydiving...

An 87-year-old grandma, Janis Lefebre's children bought her the skydiving package from Jumptown, a skydiving center based in Orange, Massachusetts after learning that jumping out of a plane was something she always wanted to do. A crowd of family and friends gathered on Sunday to cheer on Lefebre's descent from 13,500 feet. 'It’s just fun watching everyone be nervous for me,' she told The Recorder.  Her family, including three children and her 19-year-old grandson, who called her 'the coolest grandmother ever' stood nervously watching the sky as it began to rain with jumpers.
‘Way to go, ma,' said her son Mark Lefebre as she floated to a safe landing with a big smile on her face.
