According to Officer Johnna Watson of the Oakland police, when his car was pulled over, he got out and fled on foot into a nearby yard. Officers waited for backup before commencing on their search for the man. The man who was about 6 feet tall and weighing about 190 pounds was later found wedged between two buildings, measured at less than a foot wide.
“There was no active pursuit, no fight, no use of force,” Watson said. “We were in the process of conducting a search when the officers located this individual in the location.”
A search of the suspect’s car turned up about a pound of suspected marijuana. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
