Teenager killed while jogging on a train track with his headphones on

Train track where Elijah was killed

14-year-old Elijah Wagers was running along a train track at night with his headphones on when he was tragically killed by a train. The incident happened  near Glencoe-Verona Road in Boone County. Apparently, with his headphones on, he didn't hear the sound of the approaching train and according to Tom Scheben, Boone County Sheriff, the train was unable to stop on sighting Elijah, thus hitting and killing him instantly. Emergency crews got to the scene a few minutes later and pronounced him dead at the scene. The train was said to be a CSX train with four locomotives and 125 rail cars, carrying mixed freight from Cincinnati.
Aside from the consequence of  hearing loss, one needs to be conscious of other impending dangers of high volume headphones.
