Texan man accidentally shoots himself dead while celebrating his 21st birthday

It was a celebration gone wrong for 21-year-old Joseph Parez when he accidentally shot himself during his birthday bash. Perez was celebrating with his family at Harlandale Avenue when he grabbed a handgun and began shooting. According to the police, Perez's family took the gun away from  him but he went back to retrieve the gun again and accidentally shot himself. He was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead from the self-inflicted gunshot wound early Saturday.
Police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez says alcohol is believed to have aided the shooting.
