Attempted murder inmate rips out his eyeball in jail

                      Colin Corkhill, 26 years                   (C)PinalCountySheriff'sOffice
Colin Corkhill, 26, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder, plucked out his own eyeball while in police custody in Arizona, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office reports.  Corkhill was allegedly driving a stolen car that got stuck down the median of I-10 near Casa Grande. However, when an Arizona State Trooper stopped to help, he allegedly attacked him. The scuffle led to Corkhill grabbing the trooper’s gun and fired it.
Corkhill was arrested and had to be placed in a solitary unit under mental health watch as he was seen punching himself in the face. According to the sheriff’s office, while Corkhill was in the cell alone, he pulled his right eye out of the socket with his fingers. Unfortunately, doctors couldn’t save his eye after being rushed to the hospital.
In addition to attempted murder, Corkhill is facing charges of auto theft, aggravated assault and resisting arrest
